Nice pub, good food, plenty of dedicated secure parking. Haven't stayed yet, but I would try it next time as it's conveniently located on High Street.Safety: Secure car park and premises.Food & drinks: Nice pub food, drinks.

Bathroom bit tired. Carpet in bedroom very worn. But room, if it was a snug was very good size. Too many freebies in room, money could be put to better use.Breakfast poor, poached eggs on Eggs Royale overcooked and wife's mushroom and tomatoes on toast contained 1 tomatoe and 1 mushroom! Still good value

I have to have a dairy free diet. I alerted staff to this when ordering and they brought me an ingredients lists for everything on the menu. For simplicity I decided to order garlic flatbread and humous dip which was listed as vegan on the menu. I was then told by staff that I could not have the garlic butter on it because it contained dairy. I asked them to double check with the kitchen as the dish was listed as vegan on the menu, and assumed they could just use olive oil or something instead. Nobody came back to me, and the flatbread was served dry, with no garlic dressing present. I was really disappointed, not only because the food here isn’t cheap, but because this dish is listed as vegan. How many vegans have eaten this and inadvertently eaten dairy products? This has really put me off eating here again.

Waited at reception and were passed by at least 7 staff, none of which asked if we were being served. Went to the bar and waited again, were told to go back to reception to see the waitress. Still nowhere to be seen. The barman seemed annoyed that we wanted to add our drinks to our table tab. Finally seated, the table next to us had made a mess in the floor, probably kids, not a problem but this was just left for the whole time we were there. The two other tables in the room were left uncleared for about 20 minutes after guests left. The food was average, looked good but quite tasteless; they had run out of ketchup for our chips so this came about half way through.Service was slow and chaotic. I’d say that the young staff were inexperienced with no one briefing them or keeping standards up. One keen lad got us a water bowl for the dog and was always busy but probably off his own back. No one seemed to be in charge. The men’s toilets smell so bad you have to hold your breath to go in the ladies. Very unpleasant just before eating. For the price and location I would expect all staff to be briefed each morning to ensure standards are kept high. I doubt we’ll go back, plenty of more charming pubs locally with good food for fair prices.

There are always petty problems in every hotel that do not suit some people because it’s not their own home where everything is perfect (allegedly) but in all fairness this hotel is pretty good despite my own petty dislikes which are not worth mentioning. Just go with it guys.

Spent four nights here on our honeymoon, everything about the stay was perfect. Lovely room, absolutely amazing food at both breakfast and dinner, the staff were all so friendly and helpful and the whole atmosphere was just great. Beautiful countryside all around and plenty of places of interest not far away. Can’t fault the Methuen Arms in any way, I’d recommend a stay to anyone!Rooms: Our room was fabulous, very comfortable bed and lovely spacious bathroom.Nearby activities: Corsham Court is a short walk, NT places not far, not too far from Avebury and Bath is only a short drive away.Food & drinks: Wonderful breakfast menu and excellent dinner menu in the restaurant. The bar has a lovely atmosphere and a great selection of Butcombe Brewery beers and other drinks.

Food & drinks: Our service was a little slow, compared to the tables around us. The food was tasty and filling.

We booked well in advance for Sunday dinner on 25th February. When we sat down we were told that the vegetarian wellington was out. This was disappointing as it is the only vegetarian roast option and meant that one of our party had to order a non-roast option. I ordered the pork and several ordered the beef. After 5-10 minutes, I was told they were out of pork. I was then also told I couldn’t have the beef as that was out too. So I completely changed my starter and main order to the fish. After a few minutes, the server returned to say that unfortunately my piece of fish was the last piece and it was smaller than usual, but I’d get extra greens and potatoes, and some money off, and I was asked if I was okay with that. I wasn’t, but at that point I didn’t really feel like I had many other options after having exhausted my other preferences so I said yes. The piece of fish was pathetically small and only about £3 was taken off the bill.It wasn’t even like we were late as our table was at 6.30 pm and we’d booked well in advance. I understand occasionally some dishes run out but to be out of the only vegetarian roast option plus two of the meats, and then to serve a small portion of fish is really not acceptable. The only reason my score isn’t lower is that the desserts were amazing.

We have made numerous visits to the Methuen Arms for either Breakfast or Sunday Roasts which never fail to deliver with Taste or service, which is why we always make a point of returning. Our most recent visit was for Breakfast and unfortunately we didnt know they stopped serving at 10am but still managed to squeeze us in and look after us. So Thank you!Food & drinks: The food is always high quality and presented really well. Im afraid I do not drink alcohol but the coffee is very impressive so highly recommend you give that a try!

A mixed lunch experience yesterday. Our waitress was lovely and very efficient. We ordered two main courses and a starter and asked for them all to come together. The starter came out after about 15 minutes. Nothing else arrived so we shared it. After about another half an hour the waitress who took our order returned and was very embarrassed to find we were still waiting for main courses. She immediately offered us some drinks on the house. The food eventually arrived about another 15 minutes later. When it arrived the food was very good, the experience probably enhanced because we were so hungry! It seems there is a disconnect between the serving staff and the kitchen? This is the second time in three visits that we have had a less than perfect experience, which is a shame as we have been eating at the Methuen for years and it’s always been faultless.

Great place food deliciousHowever it seemed under staffed as things were being forgotten and some tables waiting for food etc.The staff they had were very friendly. My daughter was here at Xmas and recieved a gift envelope which had a 50% discount off the food, brilliant idea.
