Found this place avoiding the motorway on a busy bank holiday. Our waitress who was young and new had to deal with an obnoxious customer who just wanted to have a row with someone for no real reason, but the young lady dealt with it in a very professional manor. The food was lovely. I hope to find my way here again in future.

Enjoyed the fish and chips for lunch today. Well cooked but small portion of cod. Good coffee, as always. Friendly and attentive staff. Recommend.

Took my mother here today for a scone and tea, wish I had taken a photo. The scones tasted and had the same consistency as bread roll, a sweet soft bread roll. I don't know what we had but it certainly wasn't a scone. The tea was good, 3 teabags in the teapot so nice and strong. Wouldn't go again, and would not recommend.

I loved it not because of the last reviews, a typical place to stop to have a good English breakfast and very good cakes!! I recommend it 100%. The place is very cozy, the employees are very friendly and the service was very fast. I would definitely return!

Pollys has gone downhill, we have visited at various times over the years and always had a great experience, however, the last two times have not been great and we won't go again. We ordered eggs benedict and a full english, after 15 minutes nothing had arrived including drinks, the waitress finally came over and said they didn't have eggs benedict so I ordered crumpets and asked for them to be well toasted. Another 15-20 passes and we have finished our coffee, just as we were about to cancel our order the food arrives, sadly the crumpets looked raw, and indeed they had been merely wafted under a lightbulb rather than under the grill or toaster. The butter wouldn't even melt on them, I didn't eat them they were awful. My husbands full English was tasteless and luke warm, there is clearly no quality control going on here. The staff were polite enough and a bit embarrassed, it's a shambles quite honestly. There was no quibble to take the food off the bill but someone needs to sort this place out it's not good enough for the prices you charge

A group of 6 went for coffee and brunch. Coffee's took 20 minutes to arrive and then brunch didn't come after a 60 minute wait so had to cancel and leave. the situation was not well managed by staff with very poor communication. Really disappointing experience.

Came here on New Years Day with my girlfriend after we biked from Swindon on the old railway path, we had some nice food and hot chocolate, staff were friendly and it was nice and warm inside. I had avocado, bacon and egg on sourdough toast, very tasty.

Have visited several times over recent years but today was a disappointment. Asked whether the business has changed hands as the difference was marked. 2 cream teas for nearly £20, table was so sticky the menus stuck to it, menus falling to bits, tea stewed before arrived, 1 scone each, looked bought in and texture was all wrong, soft cake like texture, jam cheap, flat bottomed cups didn’t fit saucers. Not world changing issues but disappointing experience, quality and quaintness seem to have disappeared.

We ordered leek and potatoe soup and it was very disappointing. The soup was wattery without any taste. The water wchich we ordered never arrived. We won't be coming again.

Absolutely disgraceful. Cold breakfast, raw sausage, dry toast, black pudding stone cold and rubbery eggs. Excuse of new chef and he is unattended was given. Cup of water had dust floating in it and glasses on table were filthy.Don’t see what the hype is about. Would definitely not recommend for breakfast. Staff were apologetic but I don’t want to wait another 25 mins for a new breakfast.

Having lived in Marlborough for many years, we have been to Pollys many many times. What on earth has happened? The service was appalling, the food very bland and the prices mediocre. What a let down to a superbly located tea room. Won’t be venturing back for quite some time.

Visited with my mum on 12th Jan and had a lovely lunch with a coffee. Had a great service from both people who served us and took some amazing cakes home with us! Thank you!
