Went here for dinner on Christmas eve. Wonderful service, all the food was delicious. Drinks were great, and all of this in a beautiful, historic setting. Possibly my favourite pub in Salisbury!

Quite small with nooks and crannies. Really interesting place. Would have loved to have eaten there, but we had our dog with us and so wasn't allowed to go into the restaurant. Not enough table space in the other rooms for dinner. There's a hand in a jar ....yuck...lol. Yep, very interesting ?

Very old pub - very old - and interesting to look around. Nice food, not overpriced and friendly staff. Possibly even a ghost

Top quality, excellent food, happy service, nothing wrong. Just a bit pricey.

This is a must visit. The pub itself on the ground floor is stunning. Friendly patient staff. Well maintained and the selection of drinks excellent from ales to lagers, cider and wine as well as a good range of spirits and soft drinks. Upstairs the restaurant is spacious with helpful attentive staff The menu both the adults menu and kids is a good range of food. We had the venison stew which was meltingly good as was the pork belly. I don’t know what the gravy was but I was mopping that up with everything. I even ate the veg which was cooked to perfection. I normally treat as a decoration with some meals. But the veg was part of the meal. The triple venison looked amazing. I’d like to have tried it but it was inhaled before I got the chance as was the venison burger. A good wine selection to go with the meal as well.

Food was good but TINY PORTIONS ! Staff weren't very efficient and the waiter looked like he'd just attended a funeral . I asked for more vegetables and got a straight no . Basically £18 for pork belly on half a potato, some tiny onions and 3 slices of beetroot and slither of carrot . Ended up paying another £9 for more veg !

We had a delicious mixed meat roast Sunday dinner, the fire was lit and the service was grand. Thank you!

Lived up to the hype. Very old original features, amazing staff, great service lovely food. Fitted us in at 6 pm. We luckily went in on Friday night, but they were full, so they squeezed us in for Saturday. I would book ahead if you don't want to be disappointed.

We came for lunch as a family of 4 with a booking having just visited Stonehenge, I had the trio of venison. The wait for our food was approximately half an hour however the food was worth literally every second. It was exceptionally tasty and beautifully presented, you could really taste the quality and effort put into the meal. It was nice and quiet inside with a very sophisticated atmosphere (but not at all pretentious). Staff were very friendly and attentive. My only critique is that we were placed on a table with a bay window so it got a little chilly. I’d 100% be regular here if I was local and recommend it to anyone

Very Olde quaint pub in the town centre, very cramped with hard to find seating. Some locals are accommodating and help you get a seat, other not so, small area just inside the main door usually has 1 person taking up 5 stools. Barman needs a bit more charisma as he is not very welcoming. Couple of decent beers on though slightly make up for it.

Fantastic 13th century pub / restaurant with loads of original features. Very welcoming on a wet cold day and venison stew with mulled wine both perfect. Excellent service. A must to visit.

I have been there with friends and I had a great experience. The food was really tasty! I had the pork belly, the best pork belly that I ever had ? The stuff was very friendly and the service spot on! The atmosphere was very warm and Christmassy ? Definitely I will go again !!

Mummified hand aside this is one of the oldest taverns in Salisbury.Worth booking it in advance.Historic and full of small rooms. Originally built as a hostel for building the cathedral spire.Famous for the venison menu items we arrived at 7pm to find half the menu items were sold out. Will try againWheelchair accessibility: Not very accessible

This was an exceptional lunch of Trio of Wild Venison. The Haunch of Venison is probably the oldest hostelry in Salisbury. It was the perfect pub/restaurant for a cold grey day in Salisbury. Great oak beams and wood panelled walls. The enormous oak beams, which can be seen throughout, pre-date the building by several hundred years and are thought to come from early sailing vessels.

With the building dating from 1320, this haunted pub has to be included on a visit to Salisbury. A hotchpotch of small rooms, the pub and restaurant is an interesting enigma on where to sit. Nice selection of beers and spirits, and character in spadefulls. Friendly staff and very popular.
