First time visiting Harpers and it was a fabulous evening out. We were celebrating my 25th birthday, and Zoe the waitress was so lovely all evening. Excellent service and a genuinely lovely woman. Even went above and beyond with my desert - Will definitely be coming back. Thank you for making my birthday so special!

We are fairly regular visitors as it's walking distance. However, our most recent visit was disappointing. We were emailed a 40% off food voucher and decided to use it. We both had steak and chips. Both steaks were cold bur served with hot chips. When the server came to check on us we mentioned the steak was cold. She looked a little flustered so we said not to worry. After this our plates were cleared virtually as soon as we set our cutlery down. We normally have a great experience here so hopefully this was an isolated incident.

I have used harpers many times in the past and have always been treated with fantastic quality and good service so I thought as my mother was visiting I'd treat her to dinner. As it was a 40% off main menu I thought extra bonus. I've never had an issue with the prices here as its always been fantastic. Well tonight has been an utter disappointment. I had the 12oz ribeye, opted not to have garlic mushrooms as it came with a garlic mushroom, said mushroom was a single sad mushroom with no hint of garlic and no seasoning. And 3 vine tomatoes on top. Looked sad and plain. And a bit stingy to be honest. The steak itself was sub par in quality, was a little tough, and sadly just not good enough at all and barely seasoned. My partners steak sadly was exactly the same. Fries were delicious though and my parmesan fries were delicious. My mum and daughter who had small plates, one was tacos and one had wings thankfully said they were delicious. Which was the saving factor really. But a steak at £35 that honestly was no better than pub grub was criminal. It seems to have just gone down hill. On a separate note, the building I love, I always have. Its a beautiful venue. But little things like loose door handles to the loos etc are a little let down. I know that's being picky but just something I noticed. Also on another note, we always used to love this place as it was a bit more up market than others but sadly 80% of customers in tracksuit bottoms and hoodies isn't the best image and deliveroo drivers in through the front doors. I am aware that's almost impossible to police here and it's no fault of yours but it was just disappointing to see. Unfortunately we won't be back anytime soon as we've had some amazing food elsewhere at a much better price and to be completely honest I cook a really good steak so I'd rather just do it myself. Left disappointed and dissatisfied.

Nice atmosphere, the fish tacos were good though need a little more guacamole. Nice cappacino. My issue was the steak I got the 14oz rump with jacket potatoes. Potatoe well cooked fluffy crisp but nothing to flavour no butter or cream cheese. The steak was supposed to be medium rare it was over cooked, chewy, flavourless no seasoning a hint of sourness that I can still taste in my mouth. I think the steak was (suvied) sp, then put on a grill pan with no fat to get the marks on. Definitely not a pan cooked steak. I had to smother it in ketchup, barbeque sauce and chilli sauce just to eat it coz I was starving. Sauce wasn't nice too. Would think twice before going again which is sad coz the atmosphere was nice the food came quicknwhich was nice. I resented the forced tip? because my food was not good.

We had a lovely family dinner this evening. The food was delicious, our waitress Zoe was wonderful and very attentive. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and nice decor. Will definitely be back.

Our waitress, Zoe, went above and beyond in her service to us. She was friendly, efficient, attentive and, when she found out it was my birthday, she brought me a chocolate with a lit candle. She made me feel special. She is such a bubbly, lovely person.

Lovely restaurant, calm and quiet which makes a difference to usual hustle and bustle at busy places. Nice welcome from the friendly guy who showed us to our table, it would have been nice to have had a choice where to sit since we were popped smack bang in the middle of other tables of people eating, we would have preferred to have had a bit more space and privacy since the other end of the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. The food was nice however the rump steak was not far off inedible even though cooked medium rare, I imagine it was cooked straight from the fridge and not allowed to reach room temp before cooking, it was tough as old boots and so so chewy it hurt my teeth, unacceptable really and did spoil my meal, I also had a mouldy cherry tomato on my plate too on the vine with others, I’m not a huge fan of tomatoes anyway so I didn’t eat them and didn’t notice the mouldy one until towards the end of my meal as the mould was underneath, not to nice either, probably worth a thorough check in future, the chips/salad were delicious though so no complaints there. Towards the end of my meal I felt very much like we were being watched by the two ladies who were waitresses, the restaurant wasn’t at all busy and they stood right in front of us watching and waiting to clear our table, we felt quite uncomfortable and felt like we needed to hurry, it was a celebratory meal out and a big treat after Christmas, it was nice but it could’ve been nicer without the hiccups along the way, expensive for poor quality meat and feeling like we were in the way and needing to hurry up made for an uncomfortable atmosphere, probably won’t return in a hurry I think there are nicer places, it’s a shame because it’s beautiful inside.

Lovely welcome, really great environment and good quality of food. Only grumble was food was tepid . Steak and chips needs to be served hot sadly the butter sauce couldn’t melt a steak was cold . Our server was so lovely couldn’t grumble .

The atmosphere was incredible - went there with my girlfriend and our evening was perfected by great service by our waitress with blonde-pink hair.Really lovely evening and would definitely recommend!!
