I present to you the £21 gnocchi dish which is also the only vegetarian main on the Sunday menu. I honestly ate bigger portions when I had anorexia!Vegetarian options: Vegetarians options? Where??

OUTSTANDING customer service! The staff and chef went above and beyond anything I've ever experienced including doing custard on the house as part of a dessert dish that wasn't originally part of the dish. Overall a great night, great atmosphere and great food. Would highly recommend.

Great seafood restaurant nestled in the Fish Hotel. We had the cod scotch egg, gambas pil pil and mussels. All of it tasted amazing - I’d recommend each dish. Our waitress, from New Zealand, was lovely too - thank you.

Went for dinner to meet up with my daughter who was staying at the hotel and was not expecting such a high standard of food or presentation. The chefs did a great job and the quality of products shone through. The only dish we didn't rate was the cod fried that was stuffed but not sure with what. The service was pleasant and our dog was well taken care of including a bed that was set up by our table

We had lunch in the private deck area outside. They call it "feast on the deck". Would highly recommend for an occasion, it felt very special and everyone was very impressed.

We stayed at the Fish and went to the Hook for our anniversary. Service was perfect and the food simple but executed exceptionally well. Best mussels and frites I have ever had and the cod scotch egg was superb. A classic example of classic dishes done very well. Keep up the good work.

Frankly, my wife and I were very dubious about going to Hook and its speciality of fresh fish and seafood, given that it is NOT near the sea. Nonetheless we had excellent food and good service. We started with oysters which were from a small village in Devon and were blown away. I had the BBQ monkfish tail which was excellent to eat and a very large portion. My wife enjoyed her sea Bream very much although was a smaller portion than my monkfish tail. Our big challenge was in actually finding the Fish Hotel, in which Hook is located. It took us 45 minutes of driving to find it and we travelled from Broadway!!, The satnav took us to an entrance to another estate which had a large sign saying that although we were close, there was no access to the Fish Hotel through that entrance but did provide an alternative post code for our SatNav. We then input that postcode into the satnav which took us to the Broadway Golf Club. Near to the Broadway Golf club we found the Dormy House Hotel (a sister property of the Fish Hotel) which gave us directions (turn right and turn right again) to an unnamed road, which took us past Farncombe Estate, the Barnyard and Foxhill Manor before we eventually arrived at the Fish. It was a pleasant scenic, desolate drive, with deer spotted, during the day but going back the night the narrow, twisting, unlit and steep road was not the easiest of roads to drive on. That was the only negative and I have to say that I'm glad I did not follow through with my initial decision to give up on going to the Fish. It's definitely worth a meal, but if you do not know the locality, call them up and demand that they give you a map or look closely at google maps before you leave. Do not rely upon your satnav to get you there. I was driving a well known band of EV hired from a well known car hire firm and I was using the EV's navigation system, which got me so lost.

Average food and service in a great venue. Despite being called the Hook there was only one fish option on the Sunday menu - Salmon. Not very inspiring as this is on every menu up and down the country. The Sunday lunch was good but could have been great if the food was hot, the cauliflower cheese cooked thoroughly and gravy that wasn’t like water. The drinks service at the bar for Sunday Sounds was poor. We waited upto 40 minutes for a drink despite and had to get the waiters attention on each occasion. No glass collector in sight so tables were left uncleared. Breakfast was average, cheap sausages, runny scrambled eggs and bread not toast! Overall the experience was average yet it has the potential to be great if they paid attention to the finer details and improved the service.

Poor service and food. We’ve been before and loved it, but today food and service were awful. Waited ages and then cold food Waiters couldn’t care less Such a shame wouldn’t return Or recommend

What a beautiful location. Restaurant is part of The Fish Hotel. Had a wonderful dinner; great cocktails, wine, etc. Started with the tuna tartare, which was delectable. Proceeded with Cornish mussels and frites. Tamara the waitress was most accommodating and enjoyable. Highly recommend.

First visit Probably won’t be our last! The approach via a private long drive way with outstanding grounds mature trees and fantastic views made our expectations more! And the restaurant didn’t disappoint although we did struggle to realise if we were in the correct place whilst driving- as there are so many outbuildings holiday let’s etc glad it was still daylight. The hook resturant has a tin roof wasn’t sure if it was just a barn but it wasent - inside it is very plush classy with four separate rooms venues to sit comfortable eat drink and chill in comfy sofas modern fireplaces. We were ushered to out table which was very small. Far menu for hubby is ok but as a vegetarian not a lot of choice so ended up with 2 starters. Quite slow service especially for drinks. We didn’t hv a dessert as full up we shouldn’t of ordered the bread! The portions are of a good size my starter of 10 gambas prawns in very oily sauce too much really but my soufflé was delicious. Would pace ourselves with the courses next time and not hv bread. Also wouldn’t sit next to the open kitchen as it’s too noisy And too bright lights plus a mixture of smells which mess with your food! (Bbq Smoke )

I’ve found it difficult to rate this restaurant. It was inconsistent I suppose. To put it into context we were only there for lunch and did not stay in the hotel. The ambiance of the whole place is wonderful. Greeted immediately by a member of staff as we entered the reception area and shown down to the restaurant which opens out into a lovely light and airy space. This is where the service became a little haphazard. We counted 5 separate members of staff that waited on us. We believe this led to us being asked twice if we’d ordered certain things and for also not having things delivered when we had ordered them. A good range of wines on the wine list to serve all price ranges and tastes but no other drinks menu. Our second waitress didn’t know what beers were available or if any were on draft. Later in the meal my husband asked what non alcoholic beers there were and she said she would again find out but didn’t come back and as we were nearly on dessert we didn’t follow it up. My Provence rose was delicious. Now onto the food. My mussels were cooked perfectly but my husbands belly pork was mainly floppy fat which was a bit unappealing he did his best to eat around it. He enjoyed his fish and chips although he was disappointed there weren’t a few more fish dishes on the menu. I had the pollock which again was cooked well but I thought the curry sauce that accompanied it was very heavy with cream. The shrimp and potato Boulangere was disappointing. Swimming in butter and lacking any flavour. Overall I don’t think the restaurant met our expectations and the food in our opinion doesn’t warrant the prices being charged.
