My wife and I live locally and hadn’t tried MELT so thought we’d give it a go, particularly as it’s an independent restaurant in town. The service was attentive and polite, friendly yet professional. The food was piping hot and fresh, tasty and attractive. The venue had some tasteful decor. There was a slight draught as the back door was open but the waitress soon dealt with that. We both had burgers, with a lovely house salad side (iceberg, olives, sweet peppers, courgette) and frickles (battered gherkins). For dessert we shared a brownie. All excellent. The sodas were nice but the syrup needed to be mixed better before serving. We played one of the many board/card games on offer. Will definitely be back! Thanks MELT!

Really nice burgers. Had the brisket, the og, the chicken and vegan burg and they were all really good. Good service and food came pretty fast and was piping hot and fresh tasting.

Having eyed up the menu for a while, I finally had the opportunity to come to Melt when I wanted an overdue catch up with my son. We both ordered the "special" Baconator burger as it seemed right up our street. We also ordered two pints of diet coke. It came in good time, but I felt very let down by it. It may have been the triple cheese, but the whole thing seemed really greasy. Quite disappointed as I nearly went with the brisket burger which I assume wouldn't have been so greasy. We had a couple of deserts too (s'mores sundae, and cookie dough)which were nice, so not all grumbles. I also felt very missold however. I ordered a pint of diet coke. My "pint" came served in a 16oz Coke glass (a pint is 20oz) which was half(ish) full of ice. Therefore probably only had approx 8-10oz of coke. I challenged it when the bill came and without any argument the bill was amended. Melt, you need to be careful here. As an ex publican I've had visits from "weights and measures" and the scrutiny is quite uncomfortable. Caveat emptor

I'd like to preface this review with the hopeful possibility that our experience at Melt on Friday, the 10th of November, 2023, was an exception, rather than a rule. Trust me, no one disappointingly tosses nearly £50 into the abyss of subpar culinary experience with more regret than I did on that ill-fated evening.Arriving at a decidedly vacant restaurant at 6:15pm, optimism was naively high for me, my partner and daughter. A nearly empty venue promised us the allure of speedy service and a peaceful dining experience. Instead, we dined on lacklustre patience during an unjustifiable wait and gulped down the sour taste of our misplaced expectations. Our orders were taken and what preceded was a 45-minute culinary drought that elapsed before any semblance of nourishment arrived at our table. The term "starter" presumably implies the beginning of a meal—a logical assumption that Melt seems to broadly misinterpret. Our starters and pizzas arrived simultaneously, casting a large, visible shadow over the concept of course-based dining. The pizza, the main unfortunate event of the night, was more reminiscent of charcoal disks rather than the Italian-inspired delicacy we anticipated. Burned to an inedible crisp and disturbingly sparse in flavour, the pizzas were sadly more resemblent of discarded baking experiments than artisan fare. The selection of pizzas was lacklustre at best—barely a silver lining for the unappetizing cluster of charred dough circles that lay morosely in front of us.Trustingly, we requested our remaining scraps to be bagged for taking away, but it seemed that even time was a scarce commodity in Melt. The wait was almost as interminable as it was to receive the food in the first place.Despite being buffeted by culinary disappointments, the only beacon of tentative redemption was the polite staff. Their pleasantries, though, were insufficient life-rafts in the face of the tidal waves of disappointment crashing over us one burnt pizza at a time. There was but one standout player amidst the sea of disappointment—the fried cheese sticks. Sublime, delightful, and a stark contrast to the rest of our meal.Overall, Melt served us a rather steep £50 lesson. Unfortunately, the memory of our dining experience is as palatable as the burnt pizzas—woefully acrid and lacking in any redeeming flavour. A benevolent donation of that £50 to charity would have undoubtedly left a better taste in my mouth.

Food is good but the service is just not how it should be, know it’s a Sunday but waiting for a coke for 45 minutes is something else. They should really start improving their service.

Had great experience, food was great well worth the wait. Can really recommend this place, they were really good with the kids too.

Always a lovely meal at Melt - it’s never overly busy and has a great atmosphere - like an American diner but a bit more upmarket! Staff are attentive and the menu has a really good range of “different” things on the menu (I never knew what a frickle was before going to Melt!!) - super food, super staff! Highly recommend.

We had a lovely family evening out here for my birthday and we all enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. My two girls were also looked after really well especially when one of them wanted a slight change made to the dessert. We'll definitely be back again.Parking: Plenty of car parks within a few minutes walk of the restaurant. Car parks are free after 7pm.Kid-friendliness: The staff engaged with the children and went out of the way to help them find something on the menu they would like and even suggested an ingredient swap that made all the difference for my daughter - the magic of a marshmallow added to a brownie ?
