This place is first class, food was so fresh and delicious, you can tell it was great quality and all the cakes were superb. Gil was extremely accommodating and great to talk to. Me, my wife and my son who has autism really felt at home here and Gil could not have done more for us. Staff were fantastic. It gets a straight 5 star from us, no criticisms. We would visit more regularly if only we weren't so far away but we will definitely return when we are next in the area.

Came to gils for a private wake and it was lovely, absolutely lovely staff and a bonus of being dog friendly!

The perfect afternoon teaOur group of 11 came to Gils for afternoon tea for my friend's hen do. I rang 4-5 weeks ahead of time to ask if they would be able to accommodate a large group of us for a hen do and they were very obliging. The whole process was a breeze, just needed to confirm numbers and pre order our food the week before. I was given a detailed description of what the afternoon tea included and allergies were catered for well. Our booking was for 11am, but we were able to come at 10am to assemble our balloon arch and decorate our table. We were also able to bring some of our own Prosecco (as it was a special occasion) with no additional charge. The food was incredible (scones, sandwiches, cakes etc) and the staff friendly and helpful. We also weren't felt rushed to vacate our table despite it being a Saturday. Thank you so much Gil's for making the day so special for everyone, especially the bride to be!

Delicious toasties for lunch and cheesecake which we had to take home. Really accommodating to children, even though there is no separate menu. They selected from the main menu and had a half portion of toasties with a bowl of fruit which they loved and gave them a much better menu to choose from most places. We love visiting here when we are nearby.

I was very disappointed. I have seen reviews from a lot of my friends and arranged to meet a friend for breakfast. The coffee and tea were nice, but the Full English was very disappointing. It tasted as though the sausages and bacon had been pre-cooked and warmed up. The egg was over cooked. The highlight was the toast!

My hubby and I are always delighted with food and service what we got at gils , hubby had Stilton and pear toastie , and had a falafel Buddha bowl , amazing! Two oat lattes and Gils famous Maltese cheese and I had the vegan chocolate cake with vegan toffee sauce , luckily we walked 10 miles after to burn it off , lovely team who works there , well done definitely coming back next year

Gil has come up trumps for us this year. Him and his team did the most wonderful buffet for my little girls christening. Today a fabulous afternoon tea for me and my eldest. Nothing is to much trouble, the food is amazing and the atmosphere created by him and his staff is exceptional.
Enjoyed an absolutely scrumptious Festive Afternoon Tea. Food quality is excellent and worth the money to enjoy the experience. Gil is also an absolutely wonderful owner and he employs really lovely staff too; including polite local youngsters. Gil does lots to support the local community and charities, so it is wonderful to support the small business.Parking: Pub car park to the left of the cafe over a small bridge. Flat. No steps.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible from a fairly flat level, just needs a little tilt up on a wheelchair, nothing too strenuous!

Open but kitchen shut. Literally no point.
