We had a great evening here. We were here with friends many years ago, but it was not a successful evening and now there is a new owner. The bathrooms are new and clean; the food is very tasty, fresh and nicely presented; staff very nice. Well done!!!!We really enjoyed our evening and we really recommend this pub!!!

Have been wanting to visit for some time as I enjoyed watching Thomas Frake on Masterchef and loved his cooking style. I am afraid we were slightly disappointed with the food. Mains and starters were average and my husband’s dessert was meant to be a chocolate fondant it was very dry no runny chocolate in the middle. The staff were excellent very attentive.

We had a large family gathering (18 of us) and the staff and food were superb. I heard, "the best beef that I have ever had" more than once during lunch. All of the food was exceptional, beautifully served and we felt very grateful to all of the staff who made our visit memorable. We will now make this an annual event.

Sunday lunch at the end of November, the Wheatsheaf ticked all the boxes and I just don't know why we haven't visited before. Excellent food, excellent service, dog friendly, we will be back soon.

We were staying at Warners Littlevote House Hotel and went on one of their recommended walks which passed through Chilton Foliat. We saw the Wheatcheaf pub and decided to pop in for a drink. It is a lovely traditional building with friendly service and was a prime example of a old fashioned country pub. They did serve food but we did not eat here.

Food sensational, staff always there to help and on point. Great experience, great atmosphere. From a friendly northerner now living locally give this place a hit, you won’t regret it

Fantastic food and lovely service. Chef Frake took the time to come out and chat with us which was lovely. The whole team was fantastic and very accommodating. Excellent food, particularly the calamari, the mushrooms on toast and the pork chop.Kid-friendliness: Really accommodating for our 8 month old with a clean high chair.

A fantastic dining experience with a great atmosphere. Very busy but this is understandable as the food is tremendous. We had the 8oz steak and the pizza. Both were amazing and cooked to perfection. The scotch egg was delicious too. Finished off with the double chocolate tart and lemon posset. Attentive staff with a friendly smile. Thank you.

Delicious but I was taken aback by my pricey fish. It was good though and a treat.

What a great find. Lovely English pub with good parking and more importantly, really great atmosphere, service and food. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch today. Service was amazing too despite the heat everyone was so friendly and helpful. The roast dinner was the best we’ve ever had ! How you make the veggies taste that terrific is alchemy! Just sad we were too stuffed to have a pudding as they looked amazing! Definitely coming back soon! Thank you

This is a food-first establishment, a cut above gastropub aimed at fine dining classics kept simple. The pub building and setting is lovely too. Good wines and beers aiming for quality not variety, this is also a genuine local pub. We had scotch egg and cold potted smoked mackerel starters, both perfectly made and well proportioned. We loved the richness and flavour. "Wiltshire" sauce was delightfully fruity on the egg. Singed bread balanced the butter and let the mackerel spread super thick to get maximum smokiness. My main, the Frake's hake, had brilliantly crisped skin and moist flakey flesh balancing buttery herbed potatoes (maybe a little tarragon in there?) and green beans with a citrus sauce. Top marks to the mussels in garlic and parsley cream too. It's London-like pricing, but very good value as you can't get this quality at that price in town.We were unfortunately too full to have pudding but will be back when the weather is cooler. We were made to feel instantly at home by the young staff, I'd had to phone to defer our reservation as caught in an M4 tailback behind an accident and they couldn't have been more delightful.
