A charming old pub with an amazing interior. Good selection of ale and an interesting range of Belgian beer too. Well worth a visit.

Don't bother with this on a Thursday lunchtime, the barman is ignoring customers as he is constantly on his phone!

Great vibe in an olde world style. They do 3 varieties of picked egg (!!!) and perhaps too many ales. Mine didn't keep its head as is often the case when many ales are on offer. Take a look around you and order whatever is popular as it will be of a better standard due to the turn around. Plenty of boxed (probably dangerous) cider. If you're from the Midlands where the ale is top notch it may not come up to scratch but the bartending is great as is the ambient music choice - mostly 70s classics, it makes you want this place to have a pool table. Toilets beyond basic just like in the old days. Old ale badges to gawp at everywhere. Reading would be worse off without this place. On the small side but ideal for a stop off. 2 tables on street for outdoor imbibing.

What an absolute stunning place. Whatever you wanted it had. A huge selection of ales , beers, and a mead to knock your socks off.The atmosphere had a good, warm, welcoming vibe.

The most awe inspiring pub I've ever been to. Never a dull moment as there's always someone up for having a chirp. Beer selection of beer is always surprising snd entertaining, always some from local breweries on offer - also plenty of humourously named real ales. You can tell they've been doing it for years. So many pubs have a timid, tepid selection of beer but these guys love to play around with some fun ones you've never heard of before. Whitesnake is almost guaranteed to be playing over the speakers at some point during your visit.

Best drinkers pub in Reading. Maze of booths to hide in out the back and lots of great beers on tap on constant rotation.

Fantastic pub! Best in Reading but if you fancy a Carling and/or want to watch the footy go to O'Neill's. Proper old style pub serving real ales, real cider/perry and mead, but they do, do Czech Budvar and possibly another guest lager if that is your bag. Wide range of bottled beers and they do have a small wine and basic spirit selection if that is your thing. Food is limited to crisps, nuts and pickled eggs but I have seen people eating on the outside benches. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly (as long as you are civil, so be nice!) The pub is for socializing so phones are encouraged to be on silent but they are not banned, just be civil. No one really wants to hear what you are planning for dinner. Everyone is welcome there, no one gets judged, so give it a go.

The pub is a hub for real ales in Reading, the split level interior has several drinking compartments, all wood panelled. The walls a ceilings are festooned with pump clips of beers served in the pub.
