Service was quite slow and the main dining area was so cold! Food good and creme brulee was fab, but everything felt overpriced. TBH was expecting a higher standard. Surprised they don't sell ginger beer.

“A Hidden Gem in Berkshire’s Countryside”I recently had the pleasure of visitig The Old Hatchet, and it exceeded all my expectations. This charming 16th-century pub, nestled between Ascot and Windsor, is a true delight.Warm Atmosphere: As soon as you step inside, you’re enveloped in a cozy, welcoming ambiance. The crackling fireplaces and rustic wooden beams create the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience.Historic Charm: The Old Hatchet’s history is palpable. Originally a set of woodmen’s cottages, it has retained its character over the centuries. You can almost feel the echoes of past conversations and laughter.Gluten-Free and Vegetarian Options: Kudos to the kitchen team! They cater to dietary needs with finesse. Whether you’re gluten-free or vegetarian, you’ll find delicious options on the menu.Friendly Staff: The staff members are attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They make you feel like a cherished guest, adding to the overall warmth of the place.Reasonably Priced: Despite its historical significance and culinary excellence, The Old Hatchet remains reasonably priced. You get exceptional value for your money.Don’t miss the enchanting Plaza Mayor, the two-tiered Aqueduct of Segovia (a Roman marvel), and the awe-inspiring Santiago de Compostela Cathedral.Whether you’re seeking a hearty meal, a cozy drink by the fire, or a taste of history, The Old Hatchet is an absolute must-visit. I’ll be returning soon!????

We celebrated my Mother's 100th birthday here with a Sunday lunch for 19 family members. Excellent food, lovely ambience and good friendly service from the staff. We had the private area at the back, which was ideal for a family group. The owners were very helpful in setting up the event and were a pleasure to deal with. Everything went smoothly and we had a very enjoyable time. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely old country pub with traditional English food. To disprove my previous point the rack of ribs in bbq sauce was excellent.

Went for Christmas Day Lunch, ordered from the set menu which was sent out a month in advance so they could gauge quantities. The overall lunch was brilliant everyone loved what they ordered. The staff were fantastic, happy and helpfull even though they were missing thier own Christmas day. All in all its the second year we have had Christmas Lunch here and will definitley return next year. Thank you for making it a great day.

Went for a family lunch (7 people). Service was good and able to talk. Good for dogs too. Food was a real let down- burger buns were stone cold. “Mediterranean “ bread was more slices of bread. Cheese on kids burger not melted,Vegetarian options: Fairly limited range.

We had Sunday lunch here which was good but very expensive for a Sunday lunch. One of us ordered a roast lamb but got a roast beef. I didn't realise until the next day we had been charged for the lamb. Friendly staff. Nice decor and fire, although the area we were seated was very drafty.

We stopped here before we went to a spa, it was really lovely the food was so good, the sauces they put on the chicken wings was delicious.Scored 4 on service as it was a little slow but nothing to complain about. I think they were short staff.

Had a really lovely Christmas dinner with the family. Turkey and veg all cooked superbly. Prompt and efficient service from the staff.
