In town for work and I've often noticed this place but hadn't been in. Really enjoyed a quiet pint at the end of the day in comfortable and welcoming surroundings. Will definitely be back.
I'd just arrived in Bristol with nowhere to sleep so I went to the nearest pub which was this Portwall Tavern.The blond barmaid was really nice and helpful showing me which way to go.It was a Monday so expected to be quiet.Smart pub but not posh.Oh also I was allowed to charge my phone.Afterwards I realized the name of the pub.Portwall must mean the delivery ships/boats used to come up this far ....Tables and chairs outside for smoking.Cool calm and collected area.

Already giving this place 5 stars before eating. Very very kind woman behind the bar said the food was closed but as I have come down from Manchester for work and she still served me food. Also very nice small place and the guinness was very nice.
