Stayed here for my friends 50th, what a lovely place it is. We had the run of the place as we were a group. Most definitely recommend it.

Thank you so much to The Anchor for making a full weekend with guests an amazing birthday break. It is beautiful with every comfort needed and done up to the highest quality. It is also set in such a beautiful setting, a hidden jem.

Nice room and really clean and comfortable. Nice large kitchen that was well equipped too. Nice peaceful and scenic place.

Great place with great hosts - was surprised at how nice and modern this place was given how little we had to pay! Only a 10 minute walk from the nearby town where there’s a pub and a nice curry house - very relaxing stay

Great place to stay for a large family group or number of friends as there are 4 suites, two with extra sofa beds and all with own bathrooms. All comfortable, well equipped rooms. Worked so well for the eight of us spanning three generations. Loraine was a very accommodating and kind host who helped us out when our original booking was withdraw with less than 24 hours notice. We can’t thank her enough.Property was easy to find with ample car parking space. Located right next to the river so our children were able to swim and paddle board. Lovely outside space with great BBQ facilities, seating and play areas for children. Well equipped kitchen with access to outdoor balcony. Would definitely recommend. Only downside is it would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

The Anchor provided an excellent location for our 3 generation Christmas celebration. Our son lives abroad with his family and they had not spent Christmas in the UK for many years. He was delighted to be able to spend time with his sister and her family and dog and his eldest sibling. Both little families enjoyed their well-appointed accommodation in the Riverside suite and the Countryside suite. We as the parents and grandparents appreciated our own peaceful room which was near enough to the kitchen to enjoy all the lively family activity but was a convenient bolthole too. Our third grown up appreciated her room which was snug and comfortable. We all enjoyed gathering in the well-appointed kitchen which was big enough for all the grown-ups and two toddlers and a dog.The TV room was cosy and with its beautifully decorated Christmas tree was a lovely setting for some of our get togethers. We all enjoyed the location of the house and being able to get out for walks when the weather permitted. The proximity of the village with its Indian takeaway and well stocked shop were useful and the local people were very friendly. We visited Ely and found it delightful with excellent shops and restaurants as well as the magnificent cathedral. We would highly recommend the cottage for the kind of winter holiday we enjoyed and I am sure a spring or summer holiday with the ability to use all of the outdoor space and facilities would be equally enjoyable.Angela Barnes

A lovely, extremely well-equipped cottage perfect for a countryside getaway for a large group. Nothing was too much to ask of the owners, they had great recommendations for local places to eat and were always quick to respond. The kitchen is also an amazing space to socialise, overlooking the lovely garden. Would definitely visit again!

Had a wonderful two weeks self catering at The Anchor. The property is very spacious, immaculately presented and very well equipped including home cinema system in the lounge. The garden contains swings, climbing frame, table tennis, trampoline as well as barbecue and outdoor seating. Beautiful views across the river and open countryside. Perfect for walking, bird watching and fishing. Several National Trust properties and RSPB centres within easy reach. We used park and ride to visit Cambridge which worked very well. Suitable for all ages. The owners friendly and helpful.

The Anchor is a really lovely place for a family holiday. Great location (for Cambridge, Ely and surrounding area) with a river nearby and nice walk routes. The cottage is extremely spacious, stylish and sparkling with some original essences remained. We were very impressed by the thoughtful touches everywhere in the cottage and had great fun in the outdoor areas. It truly is a relaxing home from home. We enjoyed our stay very much (kids have already asked to go back) and would highly recommend the place!

Out of many similar type of accommodation we've stayed, The Anchor is certainly in its own class above the rest. Set in the most tranquil location right next to a river, giving many options from a beautiful morning walk to a sunset photoshoot. The rooms are immaculate, spacious and well thought-out to the finest detail. The hosts really went out of her way making sure our stay was as pleasant and memorable as it could. It has a large patio with a barbeque grill ready for use, which we took advantage of in a cosy evening with us all sitting around an open fire till small hours. It also has a beautiful, newly renovated kitchen, lage garden space with some outdoor games to keep the kids busy for hours. Highly recommended for families or friends get-together! (we were the former)

Right from the beginning we had a great experience staying at the Anchor. Fantastic communication from a really friendly and welcoming host, beautiful and spacious accommodation in the most secluded and beautiful location. The host went out of her way to accommodate my special request and responded so quickly. Lots of thoughtful extras included in the room and everything was clean and high quality. There were some beautiful walks just outside the door of the accommodation. Next time I stay I will definitely stay in the suite with access to the roof garden as it looked like a beautiful sun trap!

Lovely rooms, in a beautiful setting, didn't meet the host, but received txt messages and information. Very thoughtful and accommodating people. Would definitely stay again. (Our stay was for a wedding nearby)

It's got very nice rooms, along with an excellent kitchen. The bathrooms are very clean and tidy, and we were given coffee, hot chocolate and a mini fridge in our room. 10/10.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

High quality in the decor, amenities and furnishings. Most helpful manager/owner who went above and beyond expectations, being really friendly and flexible. We would thoroughly recommend this accommodation.
