Nice hotel, great room and food quality, nice staff, great position - next to te sea. A bit tricky parking, but there is a large car park close to aquarium.

We booked up a table at Fontanela’s with high expectations as the reviews in general were pretty favourable but we ended up disappointed not to mention having an upset stomach. The service was good as the staff were very friendly and happy to please but both our meals were very salty and underwhelming to the point that we both had upset stomach as a result. I had the soup as my starter and was told it was Minestrone but in fact was nothing more than tomato bolognaise My wife had the garlic mushroom which was very oily and she though at one point the mushrooms were doing a back stroke, too much oil. A real shame for us based on what the reviews said so unfortunately we can’t recommend based on our experience.

Authentic Italian food, excellent quality. Sadly very few customers, why?

I booked out the restaurant for my upcoming "big" birthday for 20 people. The whole process was very easy from making menu choices and sorting out seating arrangements. The food on the night was very nice as always, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the ambience/atmosphere was spot on. Would definitely recommend this place for a private booking, it's a nice size so you can have the place to yourself and enjoy your night.

We walked past this little restaurant during a summer event when the town centre was closed to vehicles and made a mental note to go and try it some time. Today was the day and we walked in about 12 noon to a warm welcome. Although we had no booking we were given a table for 2, leaving only one more table apparently unreserved. The menu covers all tastes Italian, By the time starters arrived a few minutes later, the place was slowly filling with the regular lunchtime trade. The simple Antipasta starter was excellent. The mains ( we had Lasagne and a house special Maiale Marsala) instantly transported us back to wonderful meals in Italian Trattoria's. Flavoursome and distinctly different to formulaic meals from larger establishments. This was food to savour. Now as we write this review, the taste of this meal lingers and all we want is more. The portions are just right. This is a small family run business and it deserves great success. Booking is really to be encouraged, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have secured a table. The prices are very resonable considering the quality, 1 starter, 2 mains, a desert, a bottle of house wine and finally a coffee for £45 is very good value.Thank you for a lovely mealJ & J

I have heard nothing but good things about this place and was fortunate enough to go today. Service was amazing, food was incredible and delicious and the whole place had a real nice feel to it.I had the pasta carbonara which was incredibly tasty and fresh, followed by the tiramisu for dessert. Very reasonably priced and will go back as soon as I'm able.

Excellent food and super friendly staff! Excellent location, definitely recommend it to others (we went as a family of 4, with 2 small children, booked an apartment with kitchen)!
