A pub like an English pub should be. Great service, good food and a nice atmosphere. Spent two evenings here last week with colleagues.

This is such a beautiful gem right in the heart of the city. Our host was very attentive and cooked us an incredible vegetarian breakfast which we really appreciated. Our room (and indeed the whole establishment) is full of character and has a lovely welcoming feel to it. We can't recommend The Golden Eagle highly enough!

One of the great old pubs of Chester. Good service and chilled atmosphere. No idiots. Sunday lunch is really good.Walkability: Down castle street and straight onto Bridge street. If you don't map it you won't find it.

Great place to stay for a night in Chester. Publican is very friendly as are all the staff. Quirky room, comfortable and clean. Situated in the centre of Chester, so brilliant for shopping and eating. Second time this year we've stayed and will be back again.

OK so Google asks for ratings on rooms (sorry, can't comment as I didn't stay) and location of pub (ever so slightly out of town, but only a couple of minutes walking).I've lived nearby for many years and sadly not discovered this gem of a pub before. A comfortable, homely place with an excellent range of beers/drinks etc.Chefs night off when I arrived - luckily for me he was behind the bar and pulled stops out left right and centre.. I ended up with a burger & chips impromptu ... and ... wow ... cooked to perfection. Details count and the salad was dressed too.I felt guilty in the end (as well as very grateful) as at least another traveller asked for food on his night off). Good range of tap beers, not too noisy, nice cosy environment.Definitely back for more ... ?

Stayed 30Oct with another 2 nights to come ?.A real gem of a place tucked away, yet a very, very short walk to all the old town attractions. We have room 3, it is spacious, warm and inviting, with a great comfortable bed.Pics of our breakfast posted. We were so impressed with our breakfast meal, we are booked for the ‘steak nigh’ meal (Tuesday) tonight.A big shout out for the Golden Eagle staff, thankyou for being so warm and welcoming to us ?
Lovely pubMy recent visit to The Golden Eagle Pub in Chester was nothing short of exceptional. Nestled in a quaint corner, this one-room establishment exuded warmth and charm from the moment I stepped inside. The true heart of this pub is undoubtedly its landlord, whose welcoming demeanor and passion for creating a delightful experience for every patron shone through. The hospitality was top-notch, making me feel right at home as soon as I entered. The ambiance of the pub was cozy and inviting, with a touch of old-world charm. The wooden accents and dim lighting added to the comforting and intimate atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can unwind, have engaging conversations, and simply enjoy the company of good friends. Now, let's talk about the drinks and food. The selection of beverages was impressive, featuring a variety of locally brewed beers and a well-curated list of spirits. Whether you're a fan of ales or prefer something stronger, you're likely to find a drink that suits your taste.I went in on Steak night but unfortunately they had sold out but judging by the patrons already eating I had missed a treat! What truly sets The Golden Eagle Pub apart is its sense of community. The regulars and newcomers alike are welcomed with open arms, fostering an inclusive and friendly atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can strike up a conversation with a fellow patron and leave with new friends. In summary, The Golden Eagle Pub in Chester is a fantastic establishment that embodies the spirit of a traditional British pub. With its charming ambiance, exceptional hospitality, and delightful offerings, it's a must-visit for anyone looking for a genuine and enjoyable pub experience. well worth a visit.

Small old pub by chester courts , not expensive with local friendly people and staff, give it a visit if walking around chester.
