Great place to stay for a night in Chester. Publican is very friendly as are all the staff. Quirky room, comfortable and clean. Situated in the centre of Chester, so brilliant for shopping and eating. Second time this year we've stayed and will be back again.
OK so Google asks for ratings on rooms (sorry, can't comment as I didn't stay) and location of pub (ever so slightly out of town, but only a couple of minutes walking).I've lived nearby for many years and sadly not discovered this gem of a pub before. A comfortable, homely place with an excellent range of beers/drinks etc.Chefs night off when I arrived - luckily for me he was behind the bar and pulled stops out left right and centre.. One of the great old pubs of Chester. Good service and chilled atmosphere. No idiots. Sunday lunch is really good.Walkability: Down castle street and straight onto Bridge street. If you don't map it you won't find it.
