Walking home from a friend's house, the rain was that bad and given I'd left my boat in my other jeans I dived into this place.The welcome was very warming and they had a good range of beers (I wasn't planning on drinking but duck it).Went on to have great convo with a whole gang of locals and staff. Transpired to be one of those lovely moments where we knew the same people / grew up in the same place.The chap behind the bar was really friendly and genuine too.I might accidently on purpose find myself in here again!

Been visiting the Kings Lock frequently for some time now, and I can honestly say that this is one of the friendliest, liveliest and welcoming pubs i’ve ever visited! The staff are brilliant, there are often events scheduled to appeal to all different people, great selection of real ales!! I’d give more stars if I could!! The only downside (which has nothing to do with the pub itself) is a small group of regular customers who seem to cause a lot of stress to staff and other customers, often after drinking very large quantities of alcohol. It is typical pub politics which can be found anywhere, but it really can put a downer on an otherwise brilliant vibe.

Honestly may just be the best pub I've ever been too, rotating cask ales so you'll never get bored, great food can have a great bite to eat with your pint, staff are amazing always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you get great service, Honestly can't think off a better pub then this

We parked our narrow boat up this evening and we’re desperate to find a friendly warm place to eat and The Kings Lock didn’t disappoint. Great food and drink. There was a real buzz in the pub, the music was fab - Northern Soul!!! Service was super - polite and professional. Thanks Matt!! ?

We came here on our boat yesterday, and from outside it looks like a beautiful little pub, but our experience was anything but nice. Service was incredibly slow with staff not behind the bar for long periods of time. There was a quiz taking place which was generally good fun with a very good quizmaster, but spoilt somewhat by lots of shouting out and rudeness by lager louts. The toilets were not pleasant at all. A young girl was in a cubical crying and taking drugs, which is not what I expect to see in any pub. People were also smoking directly outside the entrance to the pub, and some in the doorway. On a Thursday evening I would expect a quiet and relaxing experience, but this was like a student night. We will not be stopping here again when passing through Middlewich.
