We visited this lovely little place on Saturday 30 Dec 2023. It had been recommended to us if we were ever in the area and I'm so glad we went ! The Savoury Cream Tea I had was the most delicious plate of food I have eaten in quite some time, soft still warm scones with a slight crisp on the outside, soft cheese, fruity chutney and big old mug of tea ! Comforting and warm with an open fire, great service and also dog friendly. If we lived closer I would be here every weekend !

Pretty little cafe, warm and inviting with the open fire; good location for something to eat/ drink after a walk in Cardinham Woods. We visited between Christmas and New Year, prior to visiting we checked opening times online for that day that were 10.30-4, and said takeaway only after 3.30. We arrived at just before 3 so we had plenty of time for coffee and cake, which looked really tasty. When we went to order we were told takeaway only. The weather wasn’t great and we were with with friends; and the purpose of our visit was to sit and enjoy our coffee after our walk, and had purposely planned and left time to do so. We asked even if in takeaway cups etc if we could drink them inside where it was warm and dry and were told no and would have to wait outside to collect takeaway. She said they had been too busy all day and had had enough today. Having worked in hospitality, I understand how hard it is when busy, but if you have advertised your opening hours, these should be adhered to. If you intend to do takeaway from 3, or have variable opening times, this needs to be disclosed. We were really disappointed as were others in the queue, such a shame.

Having been here a few years ago when I had the best veggie Christmas sandwich possibly ever, I was really disappointed to come back this time and see there was no veggie version of their big Christmas sandwich. The meat eaters really enjoyed theirs but with no veggie one and 2 out of 3 vegetarian options (other than soup) out of stock I was left with a cheese sandwich for £9.95. Accompanied with some very stale crisps and some limp leaves, I can’t really see how you justify that price for a dry cheese sandwich anyway, let alone compared to the fully stuffed Christmas one at the same price. Just disappointing when all it needed was a swap for veggie sausages or some Brie (which was what the stunnin old veggie one had!) And I felt robbed blind!

There was a friendly welcome here, and a warm log fire on a chilly autumn day. We had a good coffee before our walk around the woods, then later returned for tea and a lovely slice of cake each (gluten free for me).

Nice scones, but not everyone wants them hot, especially with clotted cream. Disintegrated when cut, took back for a cold one. Friendly staff. Cuppa good.Parking: Easiest car parking machine I have ever come across. Card only

Amazing food, plenty of vegan options for our friend, and the staff were lovely too! What more could we ask for after a 3 hour walk!

After a family walk around the woods we popped in for a cream tea. Possibly the best cream tea ive had, 2 lovely fresh warm fruit scones with a decent amount of jam and cream to suit and washed down with a cuppa. Hit the spot perfectly and my wife even got me to drive back 3 days later ?. Staff are great and friendly.

We would not recommend this cafe, especially if you have dogs. We visited on two occasions, both of which we were met with poor service and petulant rules. Firstly on bank holiday Monday we visited just after 3 to be very rudely told they were take away only, against what we read on their website that morning (that it's take away after 3.30).We visited again after walking one of the trails with our two dogs as they claim to be dog friendly. It was absolutely pouring down with rain. We sat down and my partner went to ask for a dog water bowl, only to be told the dogs have to have that outside as the water could get on the floors. Bearing in mind it was throwing it down, the floors were wet already, every person and dog in the cafe were dripping water everywhere, I'd never heard such a ridiculous rule, and you cannot claim to be dog friendly if you can't give your dog water in the venue! Never as dog owners have we been in a dog friendly establishment that doesn't allow a dog to have a drink after a walk. The fact that it was pouring and the floors were soaking wet anyway from wet shoes, dogs and a motorised scooter just shows what a joke it was! You're either dog friendly or you aren't.Not recommended, however the walking trails were lovely!

Came here with the family for lunch. Amazing food and service, everyone enjoyed. I had the cream tea, one of the best I’ve had. It was busy bet luckily we found some comfortable seating inside. Very dog friendly and a pleasure to share the space with some furry friends. Definitely on our list of places to return to!

Just a short drive from our Airbnb, down a single track road though, but lots of passing places, to the beautiful woods. The café is there. You do have to pay for parking £3 for 2 hours. 2 adults had a cream tea, shared one, so one scone each & had an extra tea, the scones were big and delicious, cross between a cookie & a scone, crunchy outside & served warm, plenty of cream and jam too. I had green tea which is what I always drink, it came in a mug with a huge tea bag, way to strong for the amount of water in the mug, asked for a pot of water, which came & was only half full ? should have in my opinion come in a big tea pot FULL of water initially, waste of a lovely tea bag. Would definitely recommend this place, we had planned a walk in the woods afterwards but it was pouring with rain when we exited the café.

We've been coming to Cornwall for 30 years and never knew this little gem existed. A beautiful stone building tucked deep in Cardingham Woods. Surrounded by beautiful forestry, a well maintained play area with plenty of seating, nature trails, ample (paid) parking, and a quaint little ice cream hut. The only reason I haven't given a 5*, perhaps unfairly as there is little the owners can do but is relevant to the guest experience, is the swarm of wasps disturbing those eating outside. In addition, we were joined by a horse rider who brought her horse into the seating area. A pretty spectacular sight until it emptied it's bowels right in the middle of the eating area giving off the most tremendous stench and clearing the area. Unless the rider was carrying a black bag and a shovel, it's probably still there. We didn't hang around to find out. Manuregate aside, the team are extremely friendly and it's definitely worth a visit if you're in Newquay.Parking: Ample paid parking

Excellent cafe in the heart of Cardinham Woods. Perfect for a long walks end, for lunch or maybe coffee and cake. The food is fresh and tasty. There is in and outdoor seating and places for the children to play. They have a great specials board as well as an excellent menu. The sausage sandwich is a must if it’s on the specials board when you go. Try the cream tea, which is a meal in itself. The staff are lovely, friendly and do everything to be helpful.
