Booked a last minute stay with sea views, on arrival the lady at the reception was friendly and welcoming. She was quick to give us the information we would need to have a comfortable stay. I was impressed with the room and hospitality. I like that it was quiet but close enough to walk to the beaches and food spots. Highly recommend.

Fabulous place for little ones…… Wonderful short break with son, daughter-in-law & 17month old Granddaughter - lovely staff, comfy rooms (well equipped) & fabulous food in the Restaurant, where serving staff are superb with the children…. MANY THANKS!! ????

Fantastic hotel, staff so friendly and helpful ! Rooms are a lovely size, and very clean, they are in need of a bit of updating especially the bathrooms. Will be interesting to see what it is like when it reopens after being taken over by Watergate Bay.

Josh! Josh!! Josh!! The best hotel staff I’ve ever met. From the booking to the arrival to our stay it was exquisite. We had a delay with our flight but Josh held it down for us at the hotel and made sure we settled in well when we finally arrived. He showed us all the hotel facilities that we could use and they were all so cool. The food was top notch, customer service was premium. Our room was so neat and well furnished. Everyone was so nice to us, ever ready to help. Our taxis was booked for our tours round the town. Omg!!! I can’t stop talking about how nice they were. This has become my holiday home whenever I'm in Newquay. Please if you love peace of mind, choose sands resort!!!! Thank you all for an amazing birthday experience. I did love my flowers???❤️….. if only they can leave drinking water in the fridge next time??. But in all this hotel has my entire heart!!!!❤️❤️

Really enjoyed our stay here. Caters for all ages. Great food and excellent service from all the staff. Dog friendly and plenty to occupy oneself with. Two swimming pools, one inside and one outside, beautifully kept, and several lazy areas for sun bathing outside.

Best resort for children and coastal path beautiful with a short little walk down to a stunning Porth beach. Lovely little coffee shop and pub down there too. Hotel food is incredible, amazing value for money.Sad I heard they bought by watergate now and doing renovations - let’s hope they keep the same energy

Recently stayed here for the second time this year on a baby and toddler break. The hotel is located a few minutes walk away from Porth beach and has great facilites for adults and kids! There's an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, steam room, gym, 2 outdoor play areas, a maze, bouncy castle, tennis courts, indoor softplay and during school holidays there are children's entertainers and craft activities. The family suites are spacious and well equipped with a travel cot available if needed. Love this place and will be returning for sure!

Really enjoyed our stay. Great location to use as a base for touring around Cornwall (and a bit of Devon) - it's a shame that the hotel is closing down soon.

Room lovely spacious and clean staff very helpful would highly recommend. Had a huge car park and loved the indoor pool. We love walking and walked along the coastal path to Newquay which took around 45 minutes.

Great location, staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Very clean throughout and we were pleasantly surprised by both evening meals. The specials made our evening meals as they were well presented, tasty and offered slightly different options to a fairly standard ( but good) menu. Breakfast was comprehensive, well presented and non greasy. The only downside was that the bedroom was incredibly hot even with the fans provided. Air conditioning would have made a great difference. However, we do appreciate that the September heatwave was exceptional . Lots of facilities at the hotel which we didn’t have time to use. Out of high season we had a lovely stay and suited our needs .

A lovely break in the late summer heatwave. Fab location - albeit steep steep steps to get to the closest beach. Watergate bay is a few minutes to drive to and good beach and facilities there. The dinner at the hotel were superb and much better than I was expecting. Friendly staff and dog friendly.

We had another excellent stay at The Sands, our 5th year in a row. It is just perfect mix of fantastic location, great facilities including and indoor and outdoor pool and loads of things for the kids to do if the weather isn't great. Everyone who works at Sands is polite, friendly and helpful. We are sad to discover upon our arrival home that Sands has been sold and will no longer operate as it is. Whilst being intrigued to see what Watergate Bay Hotel will do with the property I am upset that this fantastic resort will no longer be. Am thankful we managed to squeeze one more visit in before its closure. Good luck to all the staff and thanks for the memories.
