I stayed at the Headland for my best friends birthday. The hotel itself is situated in a beautiful location, a dramatic spot above the iconic Fistral Beach, Newquay. There was plenty of parking available however it was busy as there was a wedding on the day we arrived. The staff are very friendly and went out of their way to make every guest feel welcome. We were served by Anjali, who wished my friend a happy birthday when we checked in and was happy to show us around the hotel grounds, as we hadn’t stayed before. There is clearly a lot of history at the hotel which I would love to know more about. The room was a cosy room and whilst there was no view, the room was tastefully decorated and the splash of colour was welcome in the smaller space. The trip was made extra special as my fiend had a birthday card in the room from the staff at the hotel and a voucher for a complimentary cocktail, which we enjoyed at dinner. The food at RenMor was exquisite, the waiting staff were happy to help with recommendations and were attentive. The brown butter crumpet was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, and I really hope they have it on the menu when I return! The menu was varied, but the sound of the brown butter crumpet; consisting of raw local fallow deer, masala spices and crispy shallots caught my eye and I’m so glad I gave it a try!The spa facilities were plentiful, as we could use both the Headland Spa and the Aquaclub, which was in the hotel grounds but in a separate building next door. The Headland Spa was calm, relaxing and the perfect space for restoration after the drive. The spa is in the lower ground area of the hotel, and it feels as if you are in another place entirely, with the moody lighting you can easily forget you are on a cliff top in Cornwall. We enjoyed the rejuvenating pool facilities. The Aqua Club had a big inside pool, but we found this to get very busy. Whilst you can pre-book, hotel guests are able to use the club anytime if there is space. The outside jacuzzi, the Edge Plunge Pool, was a highlight, and we watched the sun set over the beach with a glass of Prosecco whilst enjoying the jacuzzi. We also enjoyed the Sunset Spa and I can imagine the sun terrace would be lovely on a summer’s day. Unfortunately, in the depths of winter, we didn’t see much sunshine! The breakfast selection was plentiful and again, staff were attentive and accommodating. The views over the beach whilst having breakfast were breathtaking.I left the Headland already planning my next trip, and I have booked to return this Easter weekend and I cannot wait to show the hotel to my partner, who will absolutely love it. We are celebrating a special occasion and I know the Headland will be the perfect place to do so. (I am also secretly hoping they have the brown butter crumpet at RenMor on the Saturday night!) I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone after a relaxing break. The hotel is 5* for a reason, and the staff go above and beyond to make you experience memorable.

We were actually a little disappointed at the Afternoon Tea we had for 3 adults on Saturday 23 March 2024. The scones tasted bitter and left an awful after taste. We spoke with another customer who said she thought the same. I mentioned this to the waiter and he apologised and said he would look into it. A gentleman who I believe may have been the Manager came over and said he had spoken with the chef and they advised that they had used the wrong flour and too much bicarbonate of soda! He offered to replace them with 2 day old frozen scones which he would defrost! We accepted this however, we are astounded that despite knowing the original scones were not baked correctly, that you still served them to guests, hoping they wouldn't notice! Your Afternoon Teas are not cheap (£90 for 3 people plus service charge) and we were treating ourselves thinking we were going to be "blown away", however quite to the contrary, we were appalled. We were not even offered a reduction in our bill to compensate for this!

Visited the lounge. Comfortable and great service. Bonus is that views over Fistral Beach are amazing.

My night at the headlands was absolutely amazing. Felt like royalty. Both spa options were amazing and the food we had at dinner.

Fantastic stay at The Headland on a stormy weekend. Lovely spa and rooms. Dinner in the restaurant was perfect. Would like to specifically mention Anjali, who was on hand to help when we had an issue with our room. Her demeanour was welcoming and we felt that nothing was too much trouble.

Only problem was the limited menu and the price of the food. Tables were too close together. The restaurant was the Ren mor.Nonetheless a great hotel.

The worst room. You can hear fan sound while your sleeping. It was waste of money.
