Came here for Sunday lunch. We had the fish and chips which were fabulous and local sausages. Great service. The restaurant was very busy and had a great feel. Dog friendly too which for us was a bonus. Will come back on our holiday next year.

Our meal was ruined by a loud TV even though nobody except the bar man was watching. Food was okay, but service could have been better.

Disappointing service. It was obvious from the outset that the girl serving us did not want to be there. We sat for 20 mins with empty plates on our table and these did not get cleared until the restaurant manager did it himself - she was just drifting around in a world of her own. Advised the waitress that I was not prepared to pay the 12.5% service charge when the bill was brought - I don’t mind paying for good service - was not even asked if there was a reason for this so found the manager as we were leaving to pass on my feedback. I appreciate that it was New Years Day and she may have been on the night before but when you’re in a service industry you have to learn to put on that smile and ‘perform’ until out of sight of the customer. It’s not the cheapest of places and with that comes an expectation of certain standards. No complaints about the food though.

Dined with my wife here for the first time. Rather disappointed compared to other Rick Stein restaurants. Unattended reception. Waitress said she would address a request to adjust an incorrect table setting. , but didn’t do so. Most importantly, of the three scallops (£14.95) for starter, one was drowned in salt and the others rather rubbery and tasteless. We asked the waitress to find out why and mention it to the kitchen. She never came back to us. When we asked, after paying, what she had been told she blustered about them not knowing. Leaves me doubting they were fresh. Also whether she had bothered to report my dissatisfaction. Moral of the story - steer clear of the scallops (but the fish curry was delicious!).

Great food and service. Visited with friends to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Very friendly atmosphere, lovely staff and great choices on the menu. Food was fabulous. Would recommend and return!

The food was really tasty and good portions. We had olives while waiting for courses, not had olives this good since living in Spain. Rick's Spanish White complimented the meal perfectly. The service was second to none. Will definitely return. THANK YOU!

Quite a nice pub in a rural setting, the newer part seems pretty nice, can’t really comment on the original part. Wasn’t all that warm despite large log burner. Staff seemed friendly and helpful, atmosphere is a bit off as it’s one large room, almost a bit like a canteen. Food was average at best, and certainly not worth the price tags. Had the sausage and mash, impossible to get wrong you might think. Wrong. Sausages were actually nice, but cooked poorly and all exploded. Mash was bland, no seasoning, no buttery taste, and had clearly been made, portioned and then frozen as it had a weird chewy texture. Gravy tasted nice, but was so greasy, you could see the fat puddling up on the surface of it. I’m sure if Rick actually tried this he would be ashamed to put his name to it. Have eaten here 2 or 3 times now and hoped to give past experiences benefit of the doubt, but I think this is as good as it gets, perhaps explains why the place was virtually empty.

Starters and mains were really nice ( had scallops for the first time ever ) disappointed with the dessert ( chocolate brownie ) over cooked and No custard available.

Great pub, really nice staff and excellent food. Yes, it’s a little pricey for a pub but in my opinion it’s worth it. Will definitely go again.

People tend to write bad rather than good so to swing the tide slightly...my wife and I went here for Sunday lunch whilst staying in the area for a few days. We liked the fact that they are dog friendly. We were seated promptly having booked in advance and were offered table water and drinks whilst we decided what to eat. Drinks were brought and our food order was taken by a delightful waitress. We did not have to wait long for our main course. We both had pork (with an extra Yorkshire pudding...yes they're a £1 each but Yorkshire puds aren't traditional fare for a pork roast so they're an extra item...and well worth the £1) and it was a generous portion with delicious roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and seasonal veg. We asked for a little gap between main and desert and that was not too much trouble. For desert my wife had a heavenly sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream and I had Stilton cheese. Both portions were very generous and we were both brim full at that point. I asked for the bill which was delivered quickly and we left with the whole event lasting an unrushed 90 minutes, which I would have thought was about perfect. If I need to be super picky can I please have more crackling with my pork next time!!

Nice location and decor.Expensive menu and can only be described as a "safe" pub menu.Service very, very slow and this was acknowledged by the Maitre D.Very disappointed to find a massive 12.5% charge added to the total bill. It's time these Establishments started paying a decent wage and stopped expecting customers to "top up" the poor wage they are paying employees from income which is also generated from customers.Very disappointed Mr. Stein.

A lunchtime meal for six was okay , not great , not awful just okay. The service was very friendly but quite slow. To be fair they were very busy. I like the fact that they welcome well behaved dogs , toilet were spotless and its a nice venue. Our collective grip was that portion sizes were really small and the price was not justified by the average quality.

We live locally but had family visiting who were returning home the day after. Our son always treats us to a meal while he’s here. We did arrive earlier than booked, but the restaurant was empty. We were seated and they bought water to the table and gave the children pencils etc. We then waited 15 minutes for drinks. We waited half an hour for meals and the children were getting crabby. When the meal came they had forgotten my daughter in laws meal so by the time hers came, we had finished. They offered a free coke, in my opinion the meal should have been free. We didn’t have a sweet and chose to go elsewhere after! We were so disappointed as we have been before and enjoyed it. It’s really put us off

Table prebooked. Excellent Sunday lunch. Faultless. Very friendly staff. There were four of us with three dogs between us. Staff bought out a bowl of water for our dogs. We all ordered the Sunday lunch which was delicious. A very chilled bottle of Prosecco was enjoyed.
