A very nice welcoming pub.

Nice, cosy pub/restaurant. Despite being near empty the kitchen was really slow - no idea if that's normal.

The only place to go for a Sunday carvery. Book first as lots of folk know about it.

Lovely village pub, and the owner and bar staff were so friendly. The food was excellent, and the portion sizes were huge!

The definition of a classic Cornish hamlet pub in terms of atmosphere with a menu fit for an upmarket restaurant. The owner is very clearly as passionate as they come in regards to providing the best possible experience, even contacting me personally to iron out details about our visit that resulted in us having an even more enjoyable time. Despite being a traditional pub with an open fire, there wasn't a cobweb or dusty light bulb in sight, the place is immaculate. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced for the quality and portion size, our meal came out to less than £75 and that included three course, one being a steak. The menu is exactly what you'd expect from a pub with the addition of another 7 or 8 items you wouldn't expect to see.If you want a traditional Cornish, dog friendly pub meal they do not come better than this, will be back again very soon.

Had a lovely evening at The Maltsters Arms with friends. Superb food, great atmosphere with attentive staff. The landlord, Pip, was the best host!

Web site says open at 12:00 got there-at 12:30 ish , waitress explained chef was on his way and would be 40 mins. Stupidly we agreed to wait. He arrived , another couple did sat by the fire same as us as BTW there is zero heating on elsewhere by then it had been over an hr . We ordered , so did the other couple, their food was served way before ours , now 1.5 hrs. Our food arrived it was terrible, fish pie was a slop and over salted to a ridiculous degree. The waitress tried to argue we knew it would be a while but by now it was 2 hrs + The owner /chef approached and I said I just wanted some food as by now we where starving and just to leave it. The waitress asked if I had finished which I hadI thanked her for taking the plates… the owner approached I said I just wanted to finish . He clearly had a go at her as she was now in tears I have no idea why.We left £38 lighter … my wife just had a sandwich !another women followed us to the car and started shouting at my wife and myself , I returned to the pub and was accused of bullying !!!…the only person who might have bullied her was the chef .Another person who had been sitting down with head phones on and a laptop in another room out the back by the toilets who I smiled at earlier and he looked at me in a very odd way also had a go saying I had a go at her from the start … utter rubbish how on earth does he know what was said with headphones on sat in another room.I was then told they would call the police if we didn’t Leave !! And we were banned !!! Absolutely Bizzare place clearly with some serious staffing issues …. Shame as we used to go a lot as we are local and it was fine

To be fair, it was a Monday lunchtime just before Xmas, not many people about so not a great deal of ambience. The fire was lit and gave great warmth, the staff couldn't do enough for us and the food was delicious. A little jewel tucked away and one we will definitely visit again.

Went for Sunday Carvery, incredible array of well cooked meats. A vegetable collection of magnitude all beautifully prepared and presented. The meats were perfectly cooked and the vegetables had just the right amount of crunch. Lots of extra sides too. The staff are friendly and attentive. A must.

I haven’t been to the Maltsters for a couple of years and not since the new Landlord (also chef) has taken over. It’s always been a friendly pub , and still is with warm friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. The decor has been carefully revamped and looks fresh but still retains the character of the old pub . It was my turn to book the annual family lunch for 12 for the day after new year . I asked for a traditional roast with everyone comfortably seated around one table and left the rest for the pub to arrange. The result was great! . . Olives and focaccia on the table before starters and then a choice of three roasts including short rib of beaf , roast pork with cracking and roast chicken or all three!. The best ever roast potatoes, parsnips , Yorkshires and four veg were served on the table . The quality was great and it was nice that you could have a little or as much as needed, so great for the hearty eater !. This was followed by a surprise glass of dessert wine and then a traditional pudding , all for a very reasonable price. We all had a great time and I will be booking again soon, definitely not one to be missed! .
