We came as a family of 7 for lunch. Don't judge a book by its cover, the appearance of Stepping Stone belies the choice and quality of dining. We enjoyed starters such as crispy squid, Asian King prawns and soup. All were delicious. For the mains we had steak, sea bass, king prawn curry and lamb. We finished off with 4 desserts to share. We ate every crumb! The service was friendly, swift but not invasive. I had a feeling that the staff took pleasure from our enjoyment. The set menu is amazing value for money. Highly recommend.

We have always had an excellent meal here. Today we went for the Christmas lunch and it was superb. The turkey was beautifully cooked and the vegetables were, as always, delicious. Desserts were thoroughly enjoyed as well, the Christmas pudding/sticky toffee and the sublime warm frangipane tart. Thanks to front of house for looking after us so well, see you in 2024.

We went for a family birthday meal, had been trying to book there for over a year and were never able to get a table, so expectations were high. I’d only heard good things about the place. And it all started off well, starters were mostly good, other than the crab and lobster bisque, service was good. But the mains were not good at all. The curry’s were fine, just kind of like a pub curry paste from a tub, the lamb was nice I was told, and the sea bass. But the seafood sauce they put all over the trio of fish made it inedible for me, I had to swap with another party member, who also didn’t like it but didn’t want to send it back. I can only assume they use a lobster stock/glace from a tub mixed with water. It smells exactly like one that we use in a restaurant that I work in. Just super salty, gloopy and not nice. Shame, we were really looking forward to it, but honestly nothing special.

Came here as a trio for a casual lunch and it was absolutely gorgeous! Went for the lunch menu (two courses at £23), - Cajun chicken (served with chips and watercress) and an Eton Mess cheesecake. I have no words for how wonderful it tasted - so fresh and incredible flavours. It was cooked to absolute perfection, I honestly can’t compliment it highly enough. The other members of my party had the lamb and steak, and both agreed that theirs were also delicious and cooked beautifully. I didn’t catch our servers name, but she was attentive, caring and positive throughout our meal. Huge thanks to the staff at Stepping Stone, and my compliments to the chefs for such a beautiful meal!

We had been before pre covid and were so pleased that the standards remained the same, great food, (large portions), lovely friendly service, and reasonable prices for this level of quality. It's only a small place so book ahead.

Once again fantastic food and attentive friendly service Good choice of starters, mains and dessert, lamb is fantastic but save room for the sticky toffee pud. A firm favourite, would definitely recommend.

For Sunday lunch, look no further… This small, but perfect restaurant delivers the most delicious Sunday roast with several dishes of veg. Amazing food and excellent service was provided to us. We will definitely be visiting on our next visit to Cornwall. Thank you so much.

This is the best little restaurant locally and I understand why they are so busy and you have to book so far in advance, you won’t be disappointed

Great place for lunch , casual atmosphere but splendid food . We all had the set lunch menu of £23 with plenty of choice . We managed to book in for later in the week , very lucky as it is so popular . A must visit now on our annual holidays in Polzeath .

Everything was perfect and the food was absolutely delicious. From the succulent duck starter, to the melt in the mouth lamb, and finally the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever eaten! Great service and lovely staff.
