We popped over with friends for National Pie week. 2 of us had the pheasant and mushroom pie, it was absolutely delicious. The steak and ale, and minced beef and onion also got big thumbs up from those who ordered them.

We called in on a wet Saturday just before Christmas. Cafe was cosy and friendly. Quiche & home made chips & coffee & scones were top quality.

Lovely dog friendly place.

Top quality food and chilled vibe. We made a detour of about 40 miles today for lunch to this cafe when travelling from Newcastle to Carlisle. We’d been here for the 1st time about 3 weeks ago and loved it. Well worth it.

Called on our way home from Newcastle and what a little gem this place is. Very pleasant staff and a lovely warm fire to sit beside. We also took home some home made goodies as well. Well worth a visit.

Sadly the place is very shabby and could do with a good clean. Shelves near us were covered in dust and cobwebs. Visited for coffee and a snack. Sadly, at 12 midday, no tea cakes, no scones, no cakes, no biscuits. So just had the coffee. Lady who was taking orders clothes were covered in food/flour, wearing an apron would look far more hygienic and professional, and a young lady who brought us our coffees, one at a time, looked as if she’d just rolled out of bed. Our visit was very disappointing and we won’t be back.

Wow what a find!! Proper chips, none of that frozen nonsense. Pies to make your mouth water with thick gravey. Just yummy. Home baked bread I mean what more do you want.

First time we were in Alston on a motorbike, my husband went into the Bakery and came back with 2 pieces of delicious apple & almond cake (in the same bag) and two coffees. The cakes were so yummy I accidentally finished his piece thinking it was mine ? he still reminds me about it every time (and we are still married so he has forgiven me). We have been back for the same cake a few times already, it's still as delicious as it was before, and the coffee is very good, too! (Although now my husband is watching me suspiciously so that I don't eat his apple cake!)

After walking at High Force and driving across the moors we had a craving for something sweet and stumbled across Saddlers Bakery. Parked up and dashed back, despite being extremely wet and bedraggled we were welcomed warmly. Bought 2 (large) wedges of Bakewell tart to take away.Quite possibly THE NICEST bakewell I've ever had. Absolutely delicious! Really wish I lived nearer. Or maybe my waistline is glad I don't.

We were staying locally and wanted to find somewhere for breakfast. After a little walk around the village we landed on Sandler's just as it started to rain. Our two dogs and ourselves were welcomed into the cafe.We ordered a traditional and a vegetarian breakfast, a coffee and a pot of tea.Our drinks were brought over swiftly by a lovely friendly young girl .The cafe was quite full , and the next set of people were invited to share a table. There was a mix of locals and tourists. There was a steady flow of people collecting orders and coming for take out.Unfortunately the food took just short of 30 mins but was very good once it came out.Saddlers is a bakery too with choices of breads, pastry's and such.We took a scotch egg to share for our lunch which was large , it was really good!Overall a good place for a filling breakfast to set you up for the day, with friendly staff, and at a reasonable price. Thank you.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian breakfast was very good I enjoyed the halloumi and mushrooms.Parking: We found parking that was free at the bottom of the village and walked up to the cafeWheelchair accessibility: I would say limited access but I'm sure tables could be moved. The staff were very accommodating, a wheelchair could not gain access to the toilets

Popped in on the off chance - much of the menu had sold out - but what we had was spot on. Home made chips are superb and the salad is fantastic. Really friendly place - the sort of establishment deserving of support in these difficult times. We’ll definitely pop back.

Really lovely place. Called in for a late lunch, both of us had quiche, hand cut chips and salad and it was gorgeous. The pastry on the quiche was perfect. Great coffee and cake too.

Lovely cafe/bakery, had lunch with my family. The veggie quiche, tuna mayo roll and chips were heavenly. Hats off to the chef and local produce
