Outstanding dining experience from start to finish, and I highly recommend visiting Lucy’s. I booked a few months in advance as I wanted to ensure we had a reservation (we were there celebrating my son’s 30th birthday) and I received a confirmation email more or less immediately. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and showed to our table. I loved that there were several vegetarian options: not just pasta or burger dishes that vegetarians are usually offered. In fact I loved all of the effort that had gone into making the menu, not just the food - but the names of the dishes too! I also really loved (and appreciated) the little personal touches - like being mentioned in the menu. We really enjoyed our various meals, all the staff were lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Lucy’s. Highly recommended.

Amazing food, lovely ambience and the two young ladies that served us were fabulous. Everything was faultless. Thank you

We ate here tonight for our evening meal during a brief stop over in the lakes en route to Scotland. Great location in the centre of town and was very busy, which is a good sign. The restaurant is somewhat poorly laid out, so entry/exit is a bit chaotic and cramped, which doesn’t get things off to a good start. The menu was extensive, which again is not usually a sign of quality, but our food really was delicious, even though we think a microwave did feature heavily. Of particular note was the pudding , a banana sticky toffee pudding. I don’t know if they make it in house or buy it ready made but it was INCREDIBLE. The food, however, is somewhat over priced. For the money I’d expect a bit more finesse and quality. Also the names of dishes is so contrived as to be off putting. Service was slow and disjointed (served food without cutlery, etc) but staff were very warm and friendly. Would I go back? No. Did I enjoy myself? Yes. But not enough to eclipse the negatives or make it worth a return trip when there are so many other restaurants to visit in the area

I have been coming to Ambleside for many years and am now fortunate enough to live here, but this was my first ever visit to Lucy’s. The whole visit was an absolute delight, from the personal welcome given as you arrive, to the way that costs are attended to, and (even better) the fact that your name is put into the front of the menu! The menu is very wide ranging and varied, and there will be something in there to please everyone. It is also quirky with names like Lambshank Redemption, Yorkies Not Porkies, and Very Berry Bambi. I had the Kings of Spain starter (prawns and chorizo) and I Spy Ribeye for main course. Both were amazing and full of flavour, cooked to perfection. My partner had the largest chicken Kiev I think I have ever seen, which was delicious too. The best dining is where the food is part of an overall experience. Lucy’s delivers on all fronts and you feel cossetted and almost pampered, but never overly so. We will be back, many times - it is a treat and a delight to savour.

Been going to this restaurants for many years and this last time just didn’t hit the mark. Advised on booking that it was either 5.30 or 7.30 sitting so went for the later on and as you can guess found lists of other guests arriving similar time which appeared to overload the waiting on staff. Drinks ordered and took a considerable amount of time. Food order placed and arrived in good time, well presented and decent. Just had this overall feeling that the the whole service was disjointed. Wouldn’t rush back as think there are now better options in Ambleside and Lucy”s needs to up its game.

Got off to a bumpy start, We ordered and asked for our granddaughter meal to come with our starters, unfortunately she got her Chish n fips served 7th out of 8 main courses, only because the waiter who took out order forgot to put the main course for the 8th member of the party’s order in ! He did immediately hold his hand up an said it was entirely his fault and said they would not add the 10% service charge, also offered another bottle of the very nice red wine we were drinking on the house. All that said, everything we had to eat was excellent and cooked to perfection, we had a good night and the mishaps didn’t deter from our enjoyment of the evening. We will certainly be going again on our next visit to Ambleside.

Lovely cosy atmosphere excellent service. Celebrating a birthday for my husband, food excellent, all three courses were top quality. Favourites of lamb redemption and beef shin did not disappoint. Very attentive staff, missed seeing Basil, hopefully on our next visit which will be very soon.

Had a lovely meal for four on a Saturday night, wow what a find! Truly exceptional food with a lovely quirky menu and something for everybody! Starters were off the charts, followed by a blow out main… twist on chicken Kiev was best I’ve had, lamb shank awesome, and desserts matched the rest of the food…. I’d rate it very highly and can’t wait to go back! Must visit now for whenever I am here and so should you!

Such a special night at Lucy’s. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Belly pork and prawns and chorizo for starters, lamb shank and sea bass for mains. No room for pudding!the Lucy recommended pinot was very pleasant. The staff so attentive and the attention to detail and special touches made it the perfect night. A meal to remember in Ambleside.

If you enjoy a different dining experience and are in the Ambleside then Lucy’s is for you. When booking Lucy will try her best to accommodate you and on the night you may well also get a mention on the menu! The choice of food is varied and different and all that I’ve tried so far disappointing. Staff attentive and accommodating and not pushy. An experience that more than delivers customer delight.

Fantastic experience, highly recommend to anyone looking for a warm welcome, fun and friendly service, and excellent home-cooked hearty meals (arrive hungry as you're sure to leave full!). The Christmas-decorated table and customised menus for our early family Christmas dinner were a lovely surprise. Also, dog friendly which suited us perfectly. Don't skip this place, it's well worth a visit..

What can I say apart from so amazing we visited twice in a week!! We were in Ambleside when the snow hit. This meant cancelling our existing plans for Sunday roast to stay local and fortunately Lucy’s could fit us in. A wonderfully warm welcome for us and our two dogs, despite the snow logistics obviously making it tricky for the staff. Roast beef was lovely as was the monkfish, but save space for the puddings as the choice is huge and it’s like a trip down pudding memory lane! Obviously we had to dine again to eat more puddings and try the lamb shank which was incredible. Thank you to Pinky and the lovely man behind the bar for their attentive service and please remember to try the toffee vodka……absolutely incredible taste to end a lovely evening.

I recommended Lucy’s to my friends having been quite a few years ago. I am happy to say I was not let down. The menu was tempting and varied, there really was something for everyone. I had the lamb which was absolutely divine. None of my group had a negative word to say about the food, everyone was very impressed. There were cocktails and wine which were well received, the service was pleasant and prompt even though the restaurant was clearly fully booked. I would happily return again.
