We visited last weekend to entertain wedding guests. The management here are amazing, they go the extra meter to ensure everything is in place as the happy couple planned.Great working with them - just love good organisation. The function room would hold abou 80 guests. It has a low ceiling, and the atmosphere is good.Loading is via a patio, and a trolley is available - just ask.Parking is very good and well managed. My only gripe is the naff road on the west side of Windermere Lake, much prefer the A591.

Lovely hotel, gardens and view. Excellent value for money for our afternoon tea.

Fabulous place to stay and treat yourself! The hotel is in a quiet location with the restaurant, bar, lounge, some rooms and the grounds overlooking Esthwaite Water.Breakfast is ordered the night before on a menu card, although the staff are very accommodating and will try to provide alternatives if your exact requirements aren't on the list. There is a good choice on the regular menu for evening meals along with some daily specials. The standard of food at both breakfast and in the evening is excellent. (I'm sure lunch would be the same, but we didn't get chance to try it).Afterwards you can retire to the bar for a drink, take it into the relaxing lounge, or even onto the terrace if weather permits.Rooms are a decent size, comfortable and serviced daily.Overall well worth the money.

My friend and I stayed at Sawrey House Hotel in September 2023 to celebrate my friends 70th birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very nice providing you with everything you needed on a mini break. The food was absolutely gorgeous, yum. On arrival we found a bottle of prosecco and chocolate coated strawberries in our room which was absolutely delicious , we enjoyed these in the sun on the beautiful terrace looking across the grounds., this was part of the special deal we had booked. The ambience of the hotel is extremely relaxing and the outdoor areas all have beautiful, breath taking views. There is a small bar area serving a variety of drinks and a large lounge with comfortable chairs and settees. I couldn't fault anything in regards to our stay. Superb!

I stayed here pre-pandemic when I was working on a book festival and this time brought my son. It was just as good as I remembered - even better! The view from the hotel is wonderful - whatever the weather and the food utterly delicious. My son said the fish and chips were the most delicious he had eaten and had it twice - thank you Chris! Jodie was so kind and lovely and we had a most wonderful stay. This hotel is cosy and perfectly situated too - we didn't have to go far for amazing walks and it is right next to Beatrix Potter's house. A real gem of a hotel and totally to be recommended! We'll be back.

We had a wedding party here of around 25 guests including 4 or 5 children, we stayed 2 nights and had the wedding and everything associated with that here, the whole experience was amazing from food and drinks to rooms and the view however the staff members made it even more memorable, nothing was too much trouble. A special mention for Jodie and Chris, Jodie can not do enough for any guest she is an unbelievable hostess I can not praise her enough and Chris, helped with no questions asked and a smile on his face. My family had a problem that meant our departure was delayed by a few hours, Jodie and Chris insisted on making sure we were all fed before we started our long journey home. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area, one of the most pleasant experiences of my life. Thank you Jodie and Chris.

The proprietor and staff are truly amazing, couldn't do enough to make my stay as peaceful as possible. The breakfast, and indeed dinner was wonderful. I really can't wait to return. Such a tranquil setting with glorious views. Thank you again everyone at the hotel for a truly peaceful break away. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Hope very much to see you again soon!!

Sawrwy House Hotel is an absolute gem in the Lake District. Lovely quiet location, next door to Beatrix Potter's Hill Top House which is in walking distance. I am a big Beatrix fan and to stay in a place where she had afternoon tea with the vicar's wife is a wonderful experience. On arrival and throughout our stay, the welcome was amazing with friendly and helpful staff, especially Jodie who couldn't do enough for us. The meals were fantastic and delicious with thanks to Chris the chef. It is such a relaxing and friendly place. We felt at home in the comfy lounge with the wonderful views. We will be back!

Our third stay and yet again we have had a fantastic time. The menu is extremely well delivered. We love the location - literally next door to the Beatrix Potter Hill Top house. Great walks from the nearby Hawkshead village and a great location for exploring Windermere and the surrounding countryside ( and lakes !). Front of house staff have always been the best over the years we have been coming here. Currently headed up by Jodie who is an absolute star. We honestly cannot recommend the Sawrey House Hotel enough.

This was our second stay at Sawrey House Hotel, and was as enjoyable as before. The service was excellent, and the staff were great. We would certainly visit again, and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel.

From the moment you enter Sawrey House Hotel you are absorbed by the relaxing atmosphere and history it radiates. It isn't chic or modern, it is very stunning in it's ambiance and tradition in its decor. Make no mistake this is a must visit. The lounge and bar are furnished in a very comfortable way that you will relax whilst you soak in the amazing views of the terrace's, Grizedale Forrest and Estwater Lake. The dining room is spacious and the staff go out of there way to see you have the first class experience you would expect from such a high quality venue. The menu is varid and of the highest quality. Well done Chef. David is an impeccable host who greets you on arrival with a handshake and a smile. A gentleman. Then there's Jodie....Jodie is a lovely young member of staff. Her attitude to her work goes far beyond your expectations. She will go out of her way to ensure your stay leaves so many happy memories. Thank you Jodie. Overall Sawrey House Hotel cannot be surpassed for it's situation, quality of service in all area's, views of the stunning countryside and the tradition of the Lake District. Congratulations to you all. John Greenall.

Beautiful surroundings, cheerful staff. Unfortunately the kitchen was exceptionally busy on the evening we went ; and a mistake was made regarding a food allergy. J
