Food was lovely and a standard price. Atmosphere was good and it was in a good location near the bridge and Eden river. However, the service was pretty poor. No choices were offered regarding people with specific diet needs and only through overhearing conversations at the table, a waiter made some comments.. just not the best way to go about hospitality and customer service.

We popped in for a luxury hot chocolate and my word, are we glad that we did!!!That was the best hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows - massive mug, very hot, delicious - and such a good conversation too, thank you xxxParking: Make sure you have a disc - available from various places round and about

Lovely, friendly cosy cafe with fresh home- cooked meals. Generous baked potatoes and homemade soups. Good breakfast/brunch menu too. Worth a detour off the A66 to eat there!

We were a group of six and went here based on the number of positive Tripdavisor reviews. However, we were hugely disappointed. I ordered gammon which was overcooked and served with the most unadventurous salad imaginable (some iceberg lettuce, a couple of pieces of tomato and a bit of cucumber). One member of our group ordered scampi, chips and peas which had to be returned due to the peas being stone cold and the scampi being overcooked. However, it seemed that the whole meal must have been put in the microwave because the scampi was even more overcooked and rock hard when it was served again! Service was indifferent at best and, to cap it all, we were overcharged but, thankfully, noticed the discrepancy before we left. There'll be no repeat visit here!

This was our first and we will definitely go back. The bistro is well set out with plenty of space around the tables and nice decor. There are accessible restroom facilties and changing facilities. The menus is varied and the food freshly prepared.Very nice coffee and a selection of homemade cakes.Thw lady that served us was very pleasant.

We booked a table for lunch which was a good idea as it was pretty busy. They took a long time to take our order and bring the food, but there was only one lady dealing with the tables and was run ragged so I can't complain as she was working really hard. The food was good, except I asked for the chips to be well done and crispy (I hate soggy chips) but sadly everyone's chips were very pale and soggy including mine which was a bit disappointing. It's a sweet little cafe with a small garden sitting area, and the range of food is great, ranging from snacks to full meals (pies, burgers, scampi etc), There were a few veggie options, and fish choices as well as a kids menu. There is no parking but the town centre parking is nearby so there shouldn't be too much of an issue if visiting by car.
