9 Bridge St, Appleby-in-WestmorlandThis place is amazing in every way. Compliments to the chef because everything was presented beautifully and tasted absolutely fantastic. The flavours were incredible and it was great to see firm favourites on the menu but then also something a little bit different that we may not have had the opportunity to try before. We had a chicken madras, panch phoron and a jhal jhol and they were all delicious, you can tell that the chef really cares and only uses the best and the freshest ingredients because the flavours were amazing. We were really well looked after all night and the little touches of bringing out the little fennel seed sweets with the mints was such a nice little touch. I would definitely recommend a visit here, you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely be back and hopefully quite soon.

The Three Greyhounds Inn
Great Asby, Appleby-in-WestmorlandCouldn't ignore the reviews so drove 6 miles over dark sheep infested roads in the rain, when we could have eaten back at the hotel. Glad we made the effort. Food was delicious, piping hot, service was second to none. Very helpful landlord. Wife said beer was good - I was drink driving on lemonade. Didn't hit any sui-cidal sheep. Plates and sweet bowls full and hot. A beautiful little oasis in a little peaceful village. Will we call again for food? Yes - in a heartbeat. Prices extremely good.

Crown & Cushion Inn
2 Boroughgate, Appleby-in-WestmorlandLovely old pub, very cosy and welcoming. Stayed over for one night in a clean, comfy bedroom with huge double bed. Great location and excellent staff.
Breakfast was superb served in breakfast room.
5 minute walk to free car park.
Bar area is nice but drinks are pricey.

The Appleby Hub
The Appleby Hub, Chapel St, Appleby-in-WestmorlandThis is a community run venue in a converted methodist church. However, the coffee and food are of an excellent standard with friendly and efficient service. The interior has been decorated in a very sympathetic way. They make their own bread on the premises. It was so delicious in our sandwiches that we bought a loaf. The interior also has a secondhand bookshop and a shop selling cards, crafts and gifts. If you are stopping in Appleby for a couple of hours and feeling peckish then you won't find a better place.

Cafe Sixty Six
Ketland Moor, Appleby-in-WestmorlandYou know those roadside cafés you see in movies, right off the highway, with a super relaxed and cosy atmosphere and unexpectedly great food? Café Sixty Six has exactly that vibe.
It’s dog friendly and conveniently located right next to the A66, and we had such a lovely dinner experience there. The mushroom soup was excellent, served with soft, buttery bread. The club sandwich was packed with flavour, the fries were perfectly fluffy, and the dessert selection was huge. Service was also impressively fast.
We felt genuinely welcomed and left happily full. A really great stop if you’re passing by.

The New Crown Inn
Bolton, Appleby-in-WestmorlandHad a great stay here, the owners and all the staff were very friendly and helpful and coped admirably when the village lost power during the busy early evening. Fire was blazing, lovely beer and good food and really buzzing with locals. Many thanks to you all, and I very much intend to return.

Sandford Arms
Sandford, Appleby-in-WestmorlandStopped here for a one night birthday stay with my OH on our way home from Scotland, and I’d thoroughly recommend it. Large quiet room with a comfy bed, good solid pub dinner, and an outstanding breakfast. Friendly owners. We had our dog with us so booked a ground floor room, which had quick easy access to the car park and lane for a nice circular evening walk along the river. Well situated for some fantastic hill walking too the next morning (pictured).

New Inn at Hoff
Hoff, Appleby-in-WestmorlandOur walking group of 8 people have been here twice this week. We enjoyed the home cooked food, local beer and the homely atmosphere. The land Lord and his wife who did all the cooking were very friendly and chatty. We had some good laughs. Hope to be back next time when we are staying in the same area.

Bit pricey and average overall, little watery but some nice chunks of root vegetables. Solid prawn crackers, on the thicker side without the excess oil; good for dipping and scooping.
Fairly quick service considering a lot of collections turned up and a good location for visitors in nearby accommodations.

Pizza Roma

There was somebody in the middle of the room making the fresh pizza dough bases, the smell was intiving and on eating. The bases were fluffy and light. Plenty of topping, filling for all.
We pre ordered and didn't have to wait long before fresh. Steaming hot pizzas were in our hands.
