We were stopping locally in the castle, who recommended the Crown and Cushion. The food was so nice that we also came back for breakfast the next day. 7 of us, including 3 children came to eat on NYD and the food was beautiful. My Son is Veggie and said the Veggie "fish and chips" were amazing! Great service and very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit, we even stayed to watch Football. We'll be back when we visit Appleby again in the Spring/Summer.

Stayed here on the way to Ormside for New Year’s Eve there was 17 of us in total and they fitted us in in 2 groups , the pub and Appleby itself is lovely and the food here was excellent , I would recommend the chicken stuffed with sausage wrapped in bacon on a djon sauce , I’m a catering manager and this is deffo going on my menu . Thanks for a great experience

Went here when visiting friends caravan, wow is all I can say, staff lovely, service and food excellent, the best lamb Henry I've had ( every time out I choose lamb!!) will definitely be back when in area again, do not miss this little gem!!

Fabulous food,impeccable service and the most welcoming friendly staff you could possibly encounter. We met Charlie who was incredibly nice and helpful and made our visit one to remember- an absolute diamond! Thanks also to Julie We ate there for 2 nights and we’ll be back 10 stars!!?

Charlie has 5* service. We stayed in Appleby before but we came by here today for dinner. Charlie treats people so lovely, she makes you feel really special. Dinner was lovely, thanks for such a warm welcome. Charlie, you are a star and for that very reason I would happily return ?

We rented out the house a short walk away belonging to the Crown & Cushion Inn.We had a lovely comfortable stay in the wonderful house they were renting out.The staff were wonderful, friendly & very helpful at the Crown & Cushion Inn, food was good, most definitely worth a visit..Further to this, we were made to feel most welcome, I also accidentally left a nice pack of playing cards behind, they called me to let me know and posted to me sraight away, I was so pleased and grateful. A similar thing happened to me at another pub/guesthouse recently, they weren't so helpful, I'd accidentally left my wallet and spare car key fob behind. The anxiety they caused me because they were making it so difficult in returning it to me.Walkability: In the heart of their charming town
food was superb and service was great, had Sunday lunch , and went back another day for another meal and again superb , will defo be returning

Great food! Best veggie burger I’ve had! Really good value for money. Huge portions. Little dog menu too which is a nice touch! Very friendly and welcoming.

Found our new favourite place to eat.Fabulous extensive menu. Food lovely, great portion sizes. And very competitive prices.Even a doggy menu!Havent been for years and years, since it was very much a drinkers pub.But boy have we been missing out for a long time. Till now.....!

We overnighted here on our way to Scotland. Nice pub in a great location, we stayed overnight in a comfortable room with our dog.The inn was very welcoming to dogs, including having some doggy treats on the menu in the bar!The breakfast was great too. Although we didn't hang around, Appleby seems like a sweet little town.

Great location friendly staff, great atmosphere. Food outstanding went back the next evening for more, wished I was staying a few more days to try the other dishes from the menu. Definitely try it out, you won’t be disappointed!!!
