WOW what a hotel. If you can definitely a place to stay if visiting the lakes. The hotel, staff and grounds are fantastic. With the Henrock restaurant in the hotel if you want to stay and dine in. Make sure you visit the viewing points around the grounds and the

Had our 10th Anniversary meal at Henrock and what an experience it was. Service was exceptional and the meal to die for. Pre dinner drinks overlooking Lake Windermere in the gardens set the tone for a fantastic evening.Whether it was my constitution I don't know, but the bavette of beef with its smokey flavour remained with me for the whole meal, though did not interfere with the meal as a whole.

A beautiful hotel set it stunning grounds. The staff are very welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay special. We dined in Henrock and the food and service was impeccable. Breakfast the following morning was very good and the service was excellent. We have read the earlier reviews about breakfast but have to be fair and say we encountered nothing but great service and quality. Any earlier issues have obviously been remedied. This was our third stay in 12 months and we would definitely recommend this hotel. Well done to the team at Linthwaite.

No detail overlooked. Very welcoming and so beautiful. Dinner in Henrock was completely out of this world. It was a very lovely experience being surrounded by fantastic sculptures. The view from our room was magical as was the view from the conservatory and terrace. A must visit in the LakesRooms: Beautiful styled. All amenities are carefully thought out. The beds were so comfortable . Luxury robes and slippers provided along with exclusive local toiletries.

My wife & I stayed at Linthwaite House back in May for two nights, the 6th & 7th, to celebrate my 60th birthday. From the moment we checked in, until the moment we checked out, the experience was wonderful. Our room (no 2, I believe) overlooked the spectacular lake Windermere & all the other magnificent views to be seen. As soon as we arrived, we had a cocktail or two, with some snacks & then explored the grounds, which was lovely. That evening, after a few more cocktails, created by an alchemist of a fellow, we dined at The Henrock, where we we looked after by a marvellous team, lead by James & Andreas, who looked like they’d come straight from the set of a Bond film . Leigh & Xav (the sommelier) , talked through the menu & wines, & gave us some sage advice on the food & the best wine pairings etc. Our food was amazing & served by a young Portuguese couple named Anna & Vitor, who were delightful & a credit to The Henrock. The following day, the weather was fantastic & we spent many an hour playing croquet with some of my family who’d surprised me by turning up for my birthday. That evening, our experience in the restaurant was as good as the first, but with the added extra of a gorgeous birthday cake created by the young pastry chef, which was accompanied by a couple of glasses of Chateau d’ Yquem (vintage 1990), one of the best Sauternes out there! Breakfast on both days was spot on, all the team, both hotel & restaurant, made us feel very special. All in all, a wonderful stay & we will certainly be back… Thank you ?

Stayed here with friends for a celebration Having booked we found the hotel does not serve dinner on Mondays and Tuesdays so we dined at the Samling (what a blessing - please refer other review). The only redeeming feature of the Linthwaite is the young gentleman who drives the golf buggy to carry you to your room from reception. He is absolutely excellent and deserves commendation - even pitched in to help clear breakfast pots and wipe tables in the restaurant when they ran into problems. We sat at our pre booked breakfast table (they tell you what time you can come for breakfast!) and then waited literally an hour at the breakfast table before the food came. Dining room clearly in total chaos. Everyone complaining. When breakfast did come the bacon was hard and dry, the mushrooms dried up, tomato barely grilled, luke warm baked beans in a pot. Toast like rock. Complained to reception afterwards which led to nothing but limp apology - manager was not available to speak to directly … Even the Henrock restaurant where breakfast is served is run down and drab in decor - matching the food. This is so far from the top end hotel experience it claims to be and charges high prices for. A complete fraud. I feel tricked. £805 for a room with dreadful breakfast and bad service. £1600 for the four of us! Never ever again. Does not even deserve one star. Better food at M6 service station …

Linthwaite House is a beautifully positioned, Lake District hotel overlooking Windermere with immaculate gardens and a tastefully and recently refurbished interior, brimming with original artworks. As our visit was planned for a Tuesday and Wednesday it could only encompass one night of dining at the separately run Simon Rogan 'Henrock' restaurant as this only opens from Wednesday until Saturday. We had visited the hotel, before renovations, a few years ago and greatly looked forward to our revisit. Our room was well appointed with all the expected luxuries, although some items such as the mini bar snacks were rather pricey - £2.50 for a small bag of cashew nuts for example. Perhaps we should have taken the warning that nature provided by the active wasps nest angrily buzzing just above our bedroom window preventing our opening it for some fresh air, but reading other reviews from earlier in the year we have to say that it appears that the management do not take any action from guests criticisms regarding the dreadful breakfast situation. We arrived on time for our breakfast on both mornings and were shown to a table initially devoid of crockery or cutlery, and given a menu which, we have to say, from well travelled Lake District regulars, seemed very basic and pedestrian in choices - especially when compared with the pizzaz and style of the evening food at Henrock.. The following day, for contrast, we dined at The Cottage in the Woods where the great breakfast was superbly cooked and served with love and care. Back to our Linthwaite report, the friendly but somewhat flustered waiting staff eventually came to take our order which was simple and for some lightly done toast, coffee, fruit salad, bran flakes and my choice of bacon egg, hash-brown and mushrooms. They were obviously getting complaints from surrounding tables and apologising for delays in the kitchen for which there did not appear to be an obvious reason. Then followed a ridiculously long wait. ........We could hear another nearby table complaining that they had waited over 45 minutes for their toast and two under-cooked boiled eggs to arrive. Eventually after around 25 minutes only four pieces of very well done toast and some frankly lukewarm coffee arrived on out table along with a rather basic fruit salad and small dish of bran flakes. Over 1 hour later my cooked breakfast was still nowhere to be seen and we decided to quit the restaurant without getting it. The previous morning's breakfast had been nearly as chaotic with my breakfast containing totally incorrect ingredients, but we initially put it down to a minor hiccough and passed it over. Now I see that previous guests have made similar comments on trip adviser (see Jan 2023) so it would appear that this is an ingrained problem that Linthwaite management have still not sorted out. It certainly has put us off making a revisit and, though we let the reception staff know of our total failure to get what we had paid for, no attempt was made to offer even a small refund or to discuss it with higher management.I do not like making such a sad report on Tripadvisor but he breakfast team at Linthwaite would not rate a rosette or star of any kind - even in a basic B&B. and are certainly not good ambassadors for the internationally regarded Leeu hotel group. Come on Mr Singh. Kick some proverbial behind!!!

The hotel looks very nice but we only went there for dinner which was hosted by Henrock (by Simon Rogan). They do not yet have a Michelin star but they should have because the meal was fabulous. Also a major plus point is that you can get excellent wine by the glass which meant that we could have a glass of white burgundy with starters, followed by a top quality pilot noir (at £28 a glass) and then a glass of Elysium Black Muscat with puds. Much better than just 1 bottle for the entire meal. So this is as good as any restaurant that we have been to for several years. We loved it.

I visited with my 4 year old daughter and 6 month old baby earlier this week. I was incredibly anxious about staying away from home without hubby but it went so smoothly as the hotel has everything you could possibly need. We stayed in lake view suite with a hot tub, which was the ultimate treat. This room has a seemingly private little garden area too, which was perfect with the children. The view from the hot tub (and the room) is phenomenal and no picture can do it justice. Trust me I tried !! The grounds are stunning. There is so much there for you to roam and explore. There are ducks in the lake and the hotel reception had little bags of duck food for you to feed the ducks. There are statues all around the gardens which are so sweet. There is a swing seat that overlooks possibly the most incredible view I've ever seen. All of the staff are welcoming, polite, kind, helpful. From the staff on reception to the porters to the staff working breakfast/dinner. We stayed on Monday and Tuesday so did not get to check out Henrock food, but the restaurant and conservatory bar food was really good (albeit a slightly limited menu). I asked for a larger version of the children's menu one day and they made it happen. Breakfast was so nice and so much choice. The artwork all around the hotel is stunning and really suits the hotel. The hotel is so welcoming as soon as you walk in and smells so nice. Every little touch has been well thought out. My daughter had a little cry after we checked out that she wanted to "live in the hotel" as she had loved her stay. The hotel is a 3 minute taxi ride away from the main town and the hotel helpfully arranged this for me. I was expecting to drive to the town (we visited to watch the Peter rabbit show - highly recommend !) - but for £5 each way and being guaranteed to not have to drive around looking for a car park with availability removed any stresses from the day. I'm already working out a plan to visit again before the end of summer. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I'm so glad we decided to visit the lakes as we'd initially been looking to go abroad, as the search for lakes hotels brought me to this place, and I already know this will be my go to place for a UK stay.

Firstly the buildings and grounds at Linthwaite are so very special - gardens and statues everywhere, walks are lovely. So very well thought out and relaxing. Rabbits roam the grounds and the sunsets superb. The main house with bar and restaurant, also lovely. The food in the bar - all day dining- was fantastic. We really enjoyed the lamb, roasted cabbage and mash. Couldn’t praise the food enough. The downside is no air conditioning. The room was clean and lovely, but the bed had some issues. Not sure if it was a topper or a poor mattress but it was lumpy and we rolled together into the middle. The view from the room was lovely but again, so hot - we had to close the curtains or the sun poured into the already boiling room. Sadly the renovations of 2018 didn’t consider these issues. Other than these two issues, a wonderful stay.

We spent 2 nights in May for my birthday and my mom treated my wife and I to a massage. This was our first time in the Lake District and we enjoyed so much about the area, the hotel, the restaurant, the staff, but one of the top three highlights was a massage from Penny. We had hiked, I mean walked :) helvellyn the day before, so we were very sore and Penny was a life saver. She is extremely friendly, very attentive and incredibly reasonably priced. We had such as nice trip and I would recommend the Linthwaite House to anyone, but if I had to do it again, I would have gotten another massage!

Excellent and the best hotel we stayed for the trip. The hotel and views were charming beautiful. Staff especially Jasmine were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean, well equipped and cozy. Only downside was no aircon and we had to keep the windows open as it got a little stuffy at night. There’s free parking too.

Outstanding in all respects apart from two minor gripes:Air conditioning would be nice, and the water pressure in the shower was not the best. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, but I didn't have the best night's sleep because the room got a little too warm. The breakfast menu isn't extensive, but what we had was top class.Best coffee I've had in years, and the best hash brown ever.Eggs were perfect, as was the bacon.Breakfast staff were just lovely. We've tried several high-end Lake District hotels lately to celebrate special occasions, and this is the one we'll be coming back to.Fortunately, we don't have any special events in mid-summer ?Nearby activities: Windermere golf course is just next doorLake cruises about a mile away in BownessFood & drinks: Fine dining restaurantFirst class ingredients and very staff at breakfast

Beautiful, exceptionally clean hotel on magnificent grounds. The staff were wonderful, especially Jasmine and the gentlemen at the bar. We could have sat in the orangery all day. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway, surrounded by hospitable staff and stunning nature, this hotel is a must.I know a few guests complained about the dinner and/or breakfast, but I know it’s a matter of taste. The breakfast was just right. No buffet style waste and the dinner was ‘Michelin style’. The flavours were delectable! The level of detail in furnishing/design across the hotel was stunning too.
