Won't go back. Eaten in many places in the lakes, thought we would give this place a go as we have passed it many times. The front of house staff were great, no issues there. We had starters that were OK. The mains were very poor at best, I had the burger which was cold, the wife had the vegi goulash, it was very spicy, the new potatoes were black and clearly had gone bad, and the 1 dumpling was rock solid. Poor show really, all seemed to be warmed in a microwave, not freshly cooked.

We had booked lunch for 15 people from our local community group. The food and service were good and the kitchen coped well with all the different choices. A special thank you to James who was very helpful

Places in Windermere don’t get any better than this. Five star service and five star food, and seems to have all the sports channels you’ll ever need. Was looked after by James and Angel. Won’t be my last visit to this place.

6 of us went in for lunch and the service and food were great! Sunday lunch was massive with plenty of other choices on the menu for those who wanted something different. All of the servers were polite and friendly, acknowledging you while you waited at the bar and checking everything was good with our food. As locals in Cumbria, it is nice to eat somewhere that isn't crazily overpriced. I would highly recommend if you are looking for good food, a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere.

A warm welcome awaits by Nicky, the lovely bartender, and Maddy, an excellent waitress. We discovered The Village Inn, Windermere, a year ago, and remembered with great fondness the wonderful hospitality, and culinary excitement inspired by our first taste of their astoundingly good Hungarian goulash. The best version of vegetable goulash this particular waitress has ever tasted, dreamt about for 12 months, and revisited today for just that dish. I am not vegetarian, but holy moly, no regrets. Do it.Vegetarian options: Excellent choices, but for goodness' sake, order the vegetable goulash.Parking: Parking available right outside for 1 hour and that is all you need.

We came to bowness for the day and decided to have lunch in the village inn as my partner had been given a. Voucher for. Christmas for Green King pubs .We went to the bar to order the food and was told we couldn't use the vouchers as they hadn't been activated nobody told us what we had to do to activate these vouchers as we aren't very techi. So we had to pay for meal which we were not happy about as we don't normally eat in Green King pubs due to food being very basic. The pub had very loud football playing in every section you couldn't get away from it. I had scampi with a tiny baked potato and partner had the steak pie and now feels sick. So we now still have these vouchers to use.at another Green King .We come to bowness to stay a few times a year so don't normally need lunch after having breakfast where we are staying usually have nice evening meals would recommend Jackson's just up the road and lovely food

Goulash to die for ??? ?? ?? ?? The Village Inn hidden away in Bowness-On-Windemere is one of our greatest discoveries whilst playing about up north, in Cumbria. Last January, we tried to find somewhere easy for a quick lunch, found a free parking space outside, and BOOM ? there was a pub with a little chalk board sitting at the entrance advertising the best Goulash in Cumbria. A warm welcome was all we needed, after a cold stroll around nearby Ullswater. Hearty food at its best. Service was, as today, exceptional. London restaurants could learn a thing, or two, from Nicky and Maddy, the loveliest Front of House staff to greet any customer ?✨️⭐️ The vegetable goulash comes in a warm bowl of smoked spicy and sweet paprika-ridden tomato base, scattered with green pepper, carrot, onion, and potato. Perched on the side are a couple of deliciously crusty, guilty slices of garlic toast. And the dumplings, my goodness, the dumplings. Delicately herbed and soaked in those gorgeous juices. Cumbrian food, still flirting with us. Don't stop. A meal to remember forever (and ever, amen)....?❤️

We always visit this pub when we come to Bowness. Having visited on Saturday at 5pm, we were told that if we’ve not booked, we can’t eat. Even though they had tables free??!!!? Shame, we used to love visiting here but have now found a new residence at the lovely Quayside pub. At least we get a friendly welcome at the Quayside, great choice of food and drink so we won’t be going back to The Village!

The food was lovely. Prosecco reasonably priced. I was impressed by how attentive the staff were to my numerous allergies? (peanut, sesame, poppy seeds and celery) No problem at all with their Christmas menu ? Special thanks to Josh who really looks after us ?
