What a truly delicious meal. I had to come back to make sure. Huge compliments to the kitchen. And to top it off, the front of house was just brilliant. Great atmosphere, Great staff. I will be back....

Our go to place when in Carlisle. Great tasting food with the added benefit of catering for those who need gluten free items - best of both worlds! Speedy friendly service as well - what's not to like.? Thoroughly

Pasta dish was very bland, service very slow and poor had to ask several times for different things, everything seemed a effort.

Lovely local resturant, great food, fair prices, and freindly people.Dietary restrictions: Excellent options for people who cant eat gluten, full gluten free menu. Really go above and beyond in this regard.

Food was really nice but kids portions were tiny even though we opted & paid for ‘bigger kids’ meals, one of them was literally 3tbsp of pasta and also there was parmesan missing from the other kids ‘buttered spaghetti’ :(

Very disappointed with this meal.Small pizza tasted like it was just frozen, not fresh at all.Garlic ‘focaccia’ didn’t taste like focaccia, however, it was quite nice nevertheless.Quite expensive for extra toppings, even ‘extra garlic’ on the garlic bread! The rest of my party’s meals looked okay, but had mixed reviews.Service was great! But restaurant was very quiet and there was no atmosphere. Will not be returning in a hurry, unfortunately.

This Italian restaurant has been in Carlisle a long time with very good reason. Lovely food. Excellent service.Dietary restrictions: I know that they have gluten free options.

Came for happy hour, wasn’t impressed at all. Service was shocking, and food was even worse. Won’t be back. Next time will stick with giannis round the corner.

I visited Casa Romana when visiting family in Carlisle, as they live just nearby. I had also seen Grace Dent's review in the Guardian which gave me a warm feeling about the place. It lived up to this expectation. The room is light and airy and feels quite classy but without an inflated price tag. Service was polite and efficient and the place was generally clean and well maintained. The food is well made Italian in decent portions for a reasonable price. It also has lots of options for vegans, veggies and other dietary needs, which is a boon with my family. I had the fagottini for a starter which were juicy and full of flavour. I was also temped by the black pudding, but that will have to wait until next time. For main I went for the pizza toto, which was a sensible size to eat yourself and had a nice crispy base and plenty of topping. Pudding was mango cheesecake. I usually run a mile from cheesecakes with toppings, as I normally find them too sweet, but this was just right (see Grace Dent review for more detail). The wine list looked ok, though I would have liked to have seen another Italian red in the 'by the glass' section. However, I was in pre-xmas alcohol free zone, so settled for a Peroni Zero. Proper coffee, as you would expect from a proper Italian, finished up the meal and we went out into an unseasonably warm Carlisle afternoon feeling contented and well looked after. We will certainly be back again.

Visited for happy hour in December . The restaurant was busy but the service was great. Good selection of food and reasonably priced. Very close to the railway station, shops and bars.

Beautiful restaurant with friendly and totally efficient service from two nice waiters. Food was served piping hot and came quickly. Delicious food. Dessert was a real treat. Well worth a visit!
