Went for a meal with friends. quick services and cheerful staff. Food was tasty but nothing special, wine was lovely. There was a mix up with the bill but was sorted straight away. It was a good night.

Omg, so good! If you haven't tried the squash pumpkin and blue cheese slice, please go for it, a delicious combination with crispy base. I can't remember when the last time a slice of pizza impressed me so much?

Great experience for a special family meal on one of the busiest nights (quiz night) Atmosphere always fab staff all lovely and always go the extra mile. Kirsty is an absolute credit to the Beehive.

Khan's at the Waterloo

2nd time I’ve visited and by far the best curry I’ve ever had. Stanwix tandoori and saffron takeaway takes some beating as they are both lovely, but this was next level.

The 4 dips we got with the popadoms tasted unbelievable, they even refilled them after seeing how much we enjoyed them. The nice lad who served us actually remembered us from 5 months ago which is a nice touch!

Me and my 2 friends all got different curry dishes, then shared rice, masala chips and peshwari naans. Unbelievable quality, service and value. First time trying the Khans Chasni & I’d get it again. Lovely family who run it, will be back more often! ?

Casa Romana

Excellent food. Risotto and Bolognese off the Happy Hour menu, along with Dough sticks and a goats cheese appetiser, which were both excellent! Service was perfect. Quiet and friendly with an upscale feel, without the price tag. Would definitely recommend!

The Old Bank

Fantastic quirky pub, great decor and lovely staff and food. I particularly liked the naughty corner ? The food was delicious all home cooked, we would be very happy to return if we are in the area again.

We had a wonderful meal at The Royal Outpost restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The tiger prawn starter was an absolute highlight.

If we lived in Carlisle, we would definitely be regulars.

Harraby Pub & Kitchen

Really nice place. Only rating the food 4 because I didn’t like my meal. No fault of their own it just wasn’t my taste. Lovely place though. I love how far apart the tables are outside. Usually at pubs you’re basically sitting with 12 other people.

Rickerby Retreat Bar

With the fabulous weather this weekend I visited Bistro on Saturday and Sunday with the benefit of the roof being open on the terrace. What a delight it was to spend time there and the attentive service was first class as was the delicious food. Carlisle is lucky to have such a wonderful venue. I shall be back again soon.

Penny Farthing Coffee House

6 of us visited today after an overnight stay in Carlisle to have an excellent breakfast. We choose lots of different things from poached eggs to vegan breakfast as well as a large Scottish breakfast. The food was excellent, the service first class and probably the best value for money we have ever
experienced. Thank you for your hospitality.......much appreciated!

Everest Kitchen

We ordered the Everest special meal. 2 starters ( chicken tikka starter and onion bhaji) 2 mains (chicken tikka madras and chicken tikka patiya) chips, it also comes with plain and peshwari naan breads, boiled rice and pilau rice , poppadoms, mango chutney, garlic sauce and mint raita,.and 2 cans of choice (we had Fanta X2) and our meal was absolutely delicious. The flavours were amazing. Everything cooked to perfection. This is enough to feed a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) the portions are huge. Would highly recommend this takeaway. The staff were friendly and helpful on the phone and polite when I went to collect. Thanks for a great meal and wonderful service!

The search for a top quality pizza in Carlisle has been a long and arduous journey, and then we alight upon Grill39..
The pizzas from this joint are the best I’ve had in many a year- the real cheese was oozing, the crust was delightful- strong toppings, plenty of tomato sauce and all at a sensible price. You’re just getting this right, guys and I will definitely be back for more of the same.

The Fryery

Excellent traditional fish, chips and mushy peas. Friendly service. We ate in at the counter top and were given proper cutlery and serviettes. A very popular and busy takeaway.

The Blue Bell

First time going there today and absolutely amazing food definitely recommend the pork starter it is amazing!! If you want a pudding I recommend the biscoff cheesecake. Staff were so welcoming and just overall great service! Lovely girls that work there

The Stag Inn

One of our 'go to' eateries. On this occasion we went in the evening with visiting friends. We were not disappointed. We shared starters & puds & our mains were piping hot & delicious (fish, 2 x venison & hubby said best steak he's ever had).
Never disappoints but please get a 'bitter' on your taps ;)

Bottomless drinks was fab! The cocktail choices were really good and included spirits. Patience was an excellent server so friendly and helpful, we would definitely return thank you ☺️

Gurkha Spicy

We were looking for a new Indian takeaway in Carlisle after being so disappointed with others I care not to mention.
After reading the good reviews we decided to give gurkha a pop.
Wow incredible flavours your palet will burst.
Fast delivery and as I could not finish it I saved some for my Sunday breakfast.
It tasted even better cold.
This takeaway has to be the best Indian food as far as I'm concerned in our great city of Carlisle.
Can't wait until our next experience.
I had the ceylon with chicken tikka and mushroom rice. The wife had the Indian munchie box so delicious I kid you not.

Thin White Duke

Great atmosphere and attentive staff. Quite possibly the best service we have received in the UK. The Pan Fried Hake was outstanding and the Veg Thai Green Curry was solid. You must have the Bombay Cauliflower starter if available. So happy to experience this delight.

Penny Blue Restaurant & Bar

Booked for a friend's birthday. Group of 8 of us, 7 of them had never been before. A few had starters - the Cumberland Sausage and Scallops were very well received! For mains, a couple had steak, 1 had salmon and the rest of us had the Penny Blue burger. All cooked to everyone's taste. The staff were amazing and were not flustered at all with all of our requests for drinks - felt like we kept them busy!! Big thanks to Nikole and Charlotte, brilliant service! The 7 of them that had not been before have all said they will definitely be back!

Really really nice family meal, well cooked very quick service but not rushed.
Have been here before when visiting family, will go back and would recommend it for a meal with the family as a couple or even alone. Beer was okay too. The staff were really friendly and helpful

Nice place, the staff went out of their way to ensure you got what you wanted, Not to hot. Really tasty food, great service Enjoyed the atmosphere. I would recommend this for the locals and will be our go to next time we are up there.

Only issue really is delivery time can be a bit long but obviously this is down to the popularity of this local small business and will be worth the wait. Recommend ordering a bit earlier than you normally would order to avoid this. Shredded beef in Peking sauce is a personal favourite

Lakeland Gate Brewers Fayre

Wow! Absolutely fantastic. Visited with my partner and 8yr old daughter, lovely reception from staff, with particular mention to a waitress who supplied my daughter with a colouring/quiz book and crayons, then returned with another that had different quizzes! And she got given a paper hat, too! Very attentive, the (i believe manager, or something similar) even came over to ask if I needed any more gravy! It's little things like this that will make you return again and again. Quick service, food was lush, huge portions, well worth the money. Absolutely recommend! Fab.

Kelly is wonderful to work with. Great rooms, fabulous breakfast, warm hospitality. She even helped with a birthday surprise for my partner. Located an easy walk from the rail station.

Costa Coffee Drive Thru

Has to be one of the best coffees I've ever had at any of these types of places.

Polite, helpful staff and a great atmosphere to enjoy the coffee.

Also not far from the motorway and cheaper full opposite at Asda than there was on motorway 32p a litre cheaper.

Happy days all round.

Moto Todhills Southbound

This is our favourite services on the motorway. My parents are both disabled. The disabled toilets are the best .very clean aswell very spacious staff are always accommodating and friendly sheena and Louise were on shift today. Always remember us .good that staff can remember their returning customers . Would highly recommend. Lovely place to stop for a costa coffee ?

Carlisle Station Hotel | Sure Collection by Best Western

Staff were friendly, location is perfect, bathtub was great! Extra fan and heater in the room incase temperature is an issue.

My only reason that I did not give a 5* is the fact that the bed wasn't as comfortable as I had anticipated, as well as I did find a long hair on the inside bathtub wall upon arrival (Not the end of the world).

Also, it is less then a 1 minute walk to the train station and the Citadel.

I would stay here again if I came back to Carlisle.

McDonald's

The best McDonald's I've ever visited...
And I've been to a few!!
This particular branch has the best staff and they make very few order hiccups. The restaurant is always clean and organised.

Three of us visited on Sunday. It was fabulous. Top quality ingredients used and prepared beautifully. Staff were attentive and efficient. Will definitely go again when we are back up in Cumbria.
Highly recommend this Restaurant and stay in the rooms.

The Near Boot

Popped in for a bank holiday lunch with no reservation but surprisingly got a table without waiting. Excellent food as always and with Heineken Zero now on tap, no need to worry about the driving license or paying silly per bottle fees. Very enjoyable lunch!

The Sportsman Inn

This IS the oldest pub in Carlisle, despite what other city centre pubs may claim.

It has oodles of character and charm, both inside and out, and is hidden away just a minute's walk from the busiest part of the City.

There are usually two/three hand drawn ales that change weekly and are always well kept.

Prices are not the cheapest in town, but are manageable.

Mandy - the landlady, is a darling. She pretends to be grumpy sometimes - but she will go the extra mile to make your visit memorable.

The pub is small with limited seating which makes chatting with other patrons easy. When the weather is nice it's possible to sit outside.

The locals are friendly and the regulars chatty .

Friday afternoon/tea-time is a good time to visit if you want a craic.

I collect from here and deliver to Telford CML grew up with Darren one of the managers worked with Tommy at Robertsons bakery before it burned down, try the new teddy bear crumpets , excellent value for money and delicious with salted butter and marmalade

Clubhouse Bar & Restaurant

I booked my mother’s funeral wake at the clubhouse for the 25th July. I couldn’t have hoped for such a great day. Everything was great from the moment we arrived until we left. The venue is perfect, the buffet brilliant and plenty of choice. Sorry I didn’t get any pictures, but take it from me it was very good. Very friendly staff and they couldn’t do enough for us.

Quiet for a Saturday night but the staff alone are worth the five star. Made me feel so welcome as a lone diner. Very attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. Lovely lasagna and nice crispy chips

Visited on a Friday evening, busy, menu as online, we ate mixed starters then souvlaki, well presented, tasty food and good sized portions.\nThe negatives were that it did seem very expensive (nearly £100) and the staff were not very welcoming.\nOverall very good

Brilliant place for a cuppa. We stopped here on a journey from Newcastle for a break. So glad that we did. Lovely laid back atmosphere and the food was great. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. They were so kind to everyone and they seemed to be enjoying the work which makes a huge difference. Liked the local art and clocks on the walls to look at too!

Whenever I’m passing through Carlisle station, I always take the time to visit. Food is always excellent and the service was great on this visit. I was advised there would be a wait while they cooked me a cod, which was fine as it’s definitely better cooked fresh and it wasn’t a long wait anyway. The food did not disappoint, it was all fresh and tasty and for £7.80 for a ‘small’ (it was still a healthy portion) including a side of gravy it’s a very reasonable price. For similar quality and portions down in Yorkshire where I live you’d be talking easily over £10.

Great food overall, found everything really hot and tasty, only complaint was service was good if a bit rushed, felt like staff were taking our plates before we were fully done but understand they had a lot of people waiting for a space, just maybe need to hold off about 5 minutes

First time visiting David's and a very enjoyable experience, the food was spot on and the service was excellent . The restaurant was lovely and clean and nicely decorated...would highly recommend!

We came for lunch, fantastic food and service. A great selection of cakes all homemade, I had a scone which was delicious, served with homemade jam. The coffee is also lovely, staff are super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back!

This place is such a gem, with the warmest welcome! The MOST delicious top-notch food, great service and ambiance plus a stunning view. Comfortable, clean, spacious rooms too.

Anatolia Turkish Mez Bar & Restaurant

Excellent evening with wonderful food (generous portions) freshly cooked and served by friendly, efficient staff. Had a chat with the chef at the end of the evening who was so proud of the food he created. Will be back as this a must go to restaurant. Amazing value for such wonderful food and service

La Mezzaluna

Excellent food and great service at La Mezzuluna. Everything was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully cooked. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

We always have a family get together between Christmas and New Year. We are a large family, which grows each year, what with marriages and babies. (Now well over 40) As we have grown out of family houses as a venue, we thought it a good idea to go to somewhere that could cater for us all , so we booked The Auctioneer, having experienced their excellent service in the past.\nFANTASTIC, a beautiful and comfortable venue, with lots of room for the children to run free. Our own private bar. With a buffet to die for !!, and the puddings !!. Nothing was wasted as we were given boxes to take anything left. It was so relaxed and the staff were excellent. THANK YOU SO MUCH. You made it special.

Bartons Yard

A birthday celebration afternoon tea which was delicious and excellent value at £22.50 per head. We were made very welcome and staff were attentive, without being overbearing.
A box was provided to takeaway what we were unable to eat at the time.
We would definitely recommend the afternoon tea and we will be returning to celebrate further birthdays ?

Stanwix Tandoori Restaurant

Really good Indian food. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor, and the portions were great. Loved the naan and the curries gorgeous. Service was friendly and the whole vibe was relaxed. Can’t wait to go back.

Cathedral Café

Delicious scones and tea in a light and warm refectory with great views of the cathedral entrance and Augustinian Priory ruins. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Downstairs seating also in the crypt and outside at ground level. Toilets on both levels. Lift available for wheelchairs/prams.

me and my son found ourselves in Carlisle on Easter Sunday at lunchtime and we thought we would struggle to find anywhere decent to eat. Called a couple of places who couldn’t seat us for hours but spoke to Trevor who said he could fit us in , we turned up within 10 minutes and were seated straight away , Excellent cask ale on tap and we went with the 3 course roast which is excellent value and generous portions and serviced with all the trimmings. Welcoming ‘proper’ pub with a nice atmosphere and clearly plenty of regulars who know all about this gem .

Wow what a feast we had at fish night! From Caviar to oysters and squid ink pasta, everything was perfection! I visited with my friends and my mom and we all loved the food but more importantly the amazing host Patrizia is what makes this place so charming, her heart and soul go into everything!! After 7 courses of fresh fish dishes (a lovely chowder, fresh pasta, sea bass with a beautiful light mash) it was finished off with the most amazing panna cotta with a pistachio glaze! Out of this world!!

Called in today on the off chance, fitted us in between bookings, service was brilliant, staff were friendly and informative, food was amazing. Would highly recommend

Could not fault this beautiful little cafe nestled in the outskirts of Carlisle. The food was exceptional and made fresh to order. The service was quick, friendly and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble including off the menu ordering. We all left wondering why we have not visited before but we will definitely be back. Can not recommend enough. Support local, support small business, support this amazing cafe!

The Bobbin Coffee Shop

I went for a Mother’s Day afternoon tea on Saturday as a present from my daughter and her fiancée and I have to say was absolutely beautiful, food was amazing and the way it was presented was adorable, from entering the the gorgeous conservatory which was decorated beautifully you were welcomed by a lovely staff member and made to feel very special the whole experience was fabulous, thank you so much, I wish I could remember the name of girl she had blue in her hair she was lovely thank you so much xx

This shop has the most amazing selection of books ive ever seen.
Moreover, the building itself simply oozes character, and the way tge books are all organised makes it truly like stepping into an Aladdin's cave.
Super helpful staff too - this shop is a must-do if you are in Carlisle.

The Brickyard

This is my first visit to this venue for a family night out spanning three generations.
Such a historic building that I must research to satisfy my curiosity.
The gentleman on the door was very pleasant and helpful and was happy to arrange a chair for one of our group if there were none left, and the staff at the bar were brilliant with a fabulous sense of humour. Clearly, very experienced with a better memory than me as when I went back for another drink, no words were exchanged, just smiles.
The facilities were good, clean working toilets and the cloakroom was a very reasonable £2. There were a few bench seats and coffee tables available to one side of the venue with the rest as standing.
The bands we saw were brilliant. The lighting and sound quality were really good. Overall, it was a fantastic night.
I would definitely visit this venue again.
The venue is a short walk from both the train station and buses. There's parking nearby, too, including free on street parking with disc zones that end at either 18:00 or 19:00, do you may only require a disc for an hour as we did.

I Had two birthday cakes made for the 60th birthday of my Lady friend, one lemon sponge and one fruit with icing, they were beautifully made ready on time and tasted delicious. Thank you.

Brilliant venue! We went to watch a band (Blue Scarrow were amazing!) They have open mic nights, jam sessions, and performances from local bands! Quirky decor too!

Corrie Kitchen Snack Bar

The most delicious cheeseburger! Freshly made, with cheese and onions- a taste sensation! Friendly staff and very clean. I’ll be making detours on my future journeys to eat here again.Parking: Off the main road

Spot on. Chips were nice. They did us batter bits too and made us some as they didn't have any. The ladies were very friendly and a good laugh. Will deffo be returning

We had a truly amazing time at this location. The vibe is awesome, creating a wonderful atmosphere, and everyone, especially Andrea, was so welcoming and friendly. It is now our favorite place to visit.

Wanted to leave a review as the tall young gentleman went above and beyond when I spilled my coffee in store! I felt so bad and he was really lovely about it and wouldn't let me help when I offered to clean it up. Need more people like yourself!

Foxes Café Lounge

Friendly staff and excellent food and coffee. There was a delicious richness to the flat white and the chicken in the chicken, avo and mozzarella panini was cooked to perfection. The baked potato with tuna was also excellent. The homemade salad dressing was really good and the homemade pickled red onions accompanying it were divine. \nThe staff were also very welcoming to our soggy dog (it was raining heavily when we arrived) and didn’t bat an eyelid at the amount of water falling off him. \nThis is definitely our go-to cafe in Carlisle from now on. \nIt’s also very conveniently located between the Castle car park and the Cathedral.

Nice little fish and chip shop. The food’s fresh and tasty, and prices are fair. Sometimes there’s a short wait if they’re cooking it fresh, but it’s worth it. Staff are friendly and easy to chat with. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re nearby.
