The whole service experience felt extremely intense and pressured as if people had to be in and out ASAP (this is on a Tuesday night for reference). Two fillet steaks ordered medium. One came out rare, one blue. When I showed the steak to the waiter and said, I’d asked for medium I got a confident “Yes?”. The steak was re-fired which I was told would take 5-10 minutes (bit excessive for a re-fire, not cooked from scratch). When we finally started eating, the steaks were bland, had no seasoning at all and gristle had not been removed from one. I’m extremely confused that staff at a steak restaurant can’t identify temperatures of a steak and that something as easy as seasoning isn’t happening. I made sure to express my displeasure with the waitress when asked if everything was ok and simply got a kind of “oh, that’s a shame, now give us your money” kind of attitude. Really disappointed - would never recommend.

Not just steaks we had the chicken fajitas and the Salmon they were wonderful. Very helpful staff Leah suggested teriyaki with the salmon proved to be a good choice.

Absolutely fantastic. The service was insanely good for a place of this level, the waitresses were impeccable in their manner and approach and deserve to be recognised for their efforts. The home made bread and butter was comparable to anything I've had in a Michelin starred establishment... As a fat Yorkshire lad, I've eaten a lot of burgers in my time but Block's is up there with the best... Sensational steak burger with juicy pulled brisket and bacon. Fab chips and a pot of gravy to dip. If I didn't live 2 hours away I'd come every week. Awesome to see an independent smashing it like this, long may you survive and prosper!

A lovely evening at Blocks Steakhouse, a table of 8 was served and fed very well.We had a wide range of steak and burgers which was delicious. No starters as you get 2 sides with any main. I would say that the 2 sides are such a large portion, that no one out of our group of 8 finished their plate.All steaks were £30Burgers £17Wine £20-£30Pints £5Desserts £8+ and milkshakesA great menu, but my recommend was that it was too much food and not enough room to order dessert.Some on our table decided to leave a side to allow room for a dessert. Maybe make portions smaller?But highly recommend and great service.Thank you

We were staying in Cockermouth for New Year coming from Leeds. We booked Block and didn’t know what to expect as there’s a lot of good steak houses in Leeds. BLOCK BLEW THE STEAK HOUSES IN LEEDS OUT OF THE WATER! Cooked to perfection, extremely reasonably priced, very attentive staff even during the New Year’s Eve rush.I would 100% recommend. Thank you so much for a lovely meal ✨

Can be very busy, so pre booking advised. Food inconsistent as best ever double burger (£17.50 2023),with shredded beef topping followed the next week by a mediocre over cooked, dry and gristly burger. Seasonal chicken and cranberry meal tasty.

Completely and utterly delighted with the level of service received. Fillet, Sirloin and the local chicken breast especially succulent. Homemade bread, what a lovely touch and they say you cant get anything for free these days. Thank you to the super staff.
