We thought we might be in for a good day when we got the last space in a public car park. Finding the Black Bull was the icing on a good day. Nice atmosphere, good selection of drinks, and the homemade steak and mushroom pie was one of the best I have ever tastedand packed with meat.

Agree with another reviewer. Asked do they serve coffee and on being told they do requested a black coffee and a chocolate. Nothing special about the drinks and was mugged for £4.25 each! Don't like being ripped off hence 1*.

LONDON PRICES.I'm really not sure what this pub thinks it is.The bar itself is nice and some staff were friendly. Others however did pull the odd face when customers were out of eye line, which felt unnecessary.I tried a few of their own beers, made in the brewery behind the pub. These were nice, but I have to point out that the prices ranged from £6:50 to £9:00 for one pint. This feels totally unacceptable and blatant profiteering. Whilst Coniston is overly expensive anyway (average £5:00 a pint) this is by far the most expensive of the 4 central pubs, and far from the nicest atmosphere.

Ate here on a monday afternoon. Small portions for the price, should have just gone and ordered a bowl of chips. Food was average and definitely not worth the £17 price tag.Walkability: At the end of a walk.
