Lovely place for a drink, but let down by the food. We weren’t allowed to book or sit in the restaurant area as we were under 6 people. Had to sit on little stools in the bar area. The food wasn’t great in quality or quantity, Cumberland sausage was tasteless with undercooked vegetables and roast chicken was dry. Was also very expensive, more than The Crown which was far superior. Adding stars back for the setting - traditional cosy pub with roaring fire and good atmosphere.

Fantastic stay, room very comfortable. Great shower. Excellent breakfast and the pub food was excellent. Looking forward to a return visit.Rooms: All fantastic.Food & drinks: Quality and good value.

Fabulous selection of beers, brewed in the pub’s own microbrewery. We tried the Old Man bitter and Bluebird XL — both delicious.We had a cozy lunch by the fire. My sweet potato, red pepper and fennel soup was perfection with a warm roll and butter.This seems a popular place, and dog friendly too. Lovely!
