There are plenty of eateries to choose from in Grasmere, but this one caught my eye! It's in a former Methodist chapel in the centre of the village. There are a few outside tables, and a pleasant and welcoming indoor space with a quaint timbered ceiling. Very quiet when I was there, but then it was a rainy Monday in March! The two young waitresses were attentive and friendly. There's a well stocked bar where you can get beer, wine, gin and a great choice of cocktails. I ordered a very refreshing apple and raspberry soft drink. The menu offered a good selection of sandwiches, pizzas, burgers and hot meals, and there were a couple of special dishes of the day. Ordered a chowder full of smoked haddock, leeks and bacon, topped with onions and a poached egg. There were other vegetables in it too, and it was served with two chunks of warm crusty bread. A delicious light meal, well cooked, and very warming on such a cold wet day! The bread was really soft and fresh too. There's a tempting selection of cakes and desserts. Dogs are welcome here, and you can get doggy treats and ice-cream for them. A nice place to have lunch if you're walking or sightseeing around Grasmere.

Very expensive, pint tasted awful, wouldn't recommend as they are better options within walking

We were looking for a light lunch and came upon this place. Staff were very friendly. Not many people in at 12.45 on a Wednesday but it did fill up whilst we were there. We Ordered the flat steak sandwich and the Cumberland sausage sandwich which came with onion relish, a small side salad and crisps and chips to share. The food was quite good but they forgot the chips. They did however bring us some later and didn’t charge us. Hubby very much enjoyed the Swan blonde beer and had 3 pints! Worth a visit.

There is inside and outside seating. Food is good, but not overly exciting. Service is friendly, but slow. It is a very busy place. We had a Tuna flatbread and a savory Cheese flatbread.

Brilliant cafe to visit if you're ever in Grasmere! Stumbled across Harley's and wasn't sure what to expect but really pleased we did! Staff were extremely helpful, and there was a great selection of tea/coffee, beers/wines/spirits, hot food and cake. They had the best selection of Gluten free cakes and puddings! The warmed up GF apple pie and ice-cream is excellent! Milkshakes looked great too! They're dog friendly, so make sure to pop in if you're passing!Dietary restrictions: Great selection for gluten free, especially puddings and cakes! All in a separate fridge display!Parking: No immediate parking outside, but plenty of parking nearby with a short walk

Dry sponge, thin watery buttercream, poor value for money. Service very good by the younger gentleman who served me, pleasant and he was welcoming. Better places for a cake in Grasmere, glad I gave the place a go but disappointed with the offering.

Excellent pork pie with buttery flaky crust and yummy filling. We loved visiting with our waiter and will definitely go back next visit!

Visit Harleys, the venue is an old Methodist church which was very unique. Food was excellent, try the sharing platter (Ploughman’s) was very fresh and tasty. The staff were very helpful and friendly and dogs are allowed inside the bistro.
