“Popped in for lunch whilst having a look around Kendal. It was nice and quiet possibly because the weather wasn't the best. A few other people turned up whilst we were there, nice quiet friendly atmosphere.
Had soup and chinese fries, which was more than I usually have for lunch so couldn't fit a cake in then but took one for later!
Food was lovely, would pop in again if in the area.”

“My wife and I were on a 2 day stopover in kendal, and decideded to go to Bo'ness for lunch. Didn't manage to get out the car , to busy so headed back by crook, to kendal. We stopped at the Sun Inn for lunch here, and were not dissapointed. I had a Lovely beef dinner, my wife had the cumberland sausage, which looked nice, she wouldn't let me taste it? . Extra portion of cheesy cauliflower is recommended. nice selection of real ale. Average wait for meal, about 20 mins , a very reasonable wait, which was fine, as Reece and Pauline kept us updated. Dog friendly as well. We sat outside as it was a nice sunny day. Im so glad I didn't get out my car at Bo'ness ,and stopped at the Sun Inn . Well done Pauline and Reece, we will be back soon.??.
P.s. I noticed a negative review by Joe Lord. If you arrive at 7.45pm and expect to be served quick in the middle of service in a pub, then you should go to a maccy dees in future. Your review is obviously sour grapes on your part.”

“After looking at various venues in and around Kendal area for ur wedding we decided to get married at Carus green golf club in March this year. We picked this place due to its great location for local guests, the amazing views, cleanliness and friendly helpful staff. We met up with Margarita to discuss plans and she was so helpful, the communication was brilliant throughout and she couldn’t do enough to help. On the day everything was perfect. Margarita and her team made sure the day ran smoothly and we couldn’t thank her enough. The food was amazing for our main meal and the evening buffet. We stayed in the Carus house for two nights for the wedding and it was absolutely stunning- would highly recommend if you are getting married there or for a general stay. We had plenty of space to get ready, the property is cleaned to a high standard and with comfy beds and it was very calming watching the golfers in the morning with a view over the green. Thank you again to Margarita, the chefs, bar staff and cleaners and all the other staff involved for making our wedding and stay so memorable”

“Popped in for tea last night and was greeted by a friendly team who took my order quickly. There was a few people ahead of me waiting for their orders but the owner let me know that he knew I was waiting and would be with me in a minute. Really appreciated that along with the tasty hot cheesy chips.”

“A Hidden Gem – The Perfect Post-Walk Pub! After a long day of exploring the beautiful Lake District and soaking in the fresh air, The Whistling Pig was exactly what we needed – a warm, welcoming pub just a stone’s throw from our caravan. It’s a total game-changer having such a fantastic pub on site – especially when you’re not in the mood to cook after a full day outdoors. The atmosphere was spot on – relaxed, cosy, and buzzing with friendly energy. The staff were absolutely brilliant: super friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. We instantly felt at home. And now for the food… just wow. We ordered the sharing platter, and it definitely deserves a warning label – this could easily feed a family of four, or at least two seriously hungry adults! Every item was delicious, clearly made with care, and full of flavour. We left rolling back to our caravan, happy, full, and already planning our next visit. Even if you’re not staying at the Windermere site, The Whistling Pig is well worth a visit – whether it’s for a couple of drinks, a hearty meal, or just to unwind after a day in the Lakes. A real gem – thank you to the team for such a memorable evening!”
