Pedro's Casa

Pre booked this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews. We received a really warm welcome from the owner very pleasant and chatty. Once shown to our table we were immediately informed there would be a 45 min wait as they had a large group in ( not that long a wait tbh). We ordered 4 tapas and a large nachos the food came at intervals which was great for us the Pil Gambas were delicious as was the chilli nachos we would definitely recommend a visit and when leaving we were ordered a taxi and yet another lengthy warm chat from the owner.

The Cottage Kitchen

An absolute gluten free gem! You must visit it for wonderful gluten free cakes and quiche- which was the best quiche I have ever had! The staff were so lovely too!

Fish Express

Went in tonight just for chips and curry sauce with a cup of tea. I was made to feel really welcome by the lady behind the counter and my food was delicious. This will be my go to treat whenever I am in kendal.

Stanley's Coffeehouse & Kitchen

Called in for lunch whilst in town.Food was great. Only negative was, I really don't like eating food off a wooden board with a piece of paper under the food. It's a bit old school now. Much prefer a proper plate, you know has been through a dishwasher. Paper got really soggy and did start to break up.Service was good and the place was quite busy.

Cosy and quaint cottage vibes.Excellent menu with good vege options.Really friendly staff, it felt like a proper family run establishment, the little girl there provided our 3 year with paper and crayons to keep him happy, and also made him some delicious looking cheese on toast, although it wasn't on the menu.Our vegetarian breakfast was lush, the hospitality food and setting were great, and we would highly recommend it!Kid-friendliness: Feels like a family run place so we didn't feel awkward having our 3 year old there, he was provided paper and crayons and was made to feel at home, he was made cheese on toast even though it wasn't on the menu which was great

The Sun Inn

We live in Kendal and had family come from Worsley to visit so we booked a table for 5 at The Sun where we were made so welcome ? it seemed to be quite busy but you wouldn’t think so as the 2 ladies serving us were fab the food was amazing especially the black pudding with a ducks egg and the homemade tomato soup. We never think of going here but dropped in on a Sunday. We didn’t have the roast which seemed to slow down the service a bit but our meals were all good. Tyson Fury was in the pub with his family at the same time as us, so it was a bit hectic in terms of atmosphere.Parking: Free parking on the premises but if the lot is full, it’s hard to find alternativesKid-friendliness: Big outdoor play area for the kids which is great for everyone!

Wilf's Cafe ( since 1997)

Had lemon drizzle cake..it was exceptionally nice..the staff was very good..the parking meter outside baffled me but a lovely lady from wills came to the rescue..you have to pay to park but the money is knocked off your bill..I understand this as being where it is I would imagine that people that are in stavely to walk would otherwise take parking spots away from customers..would highly recommend this place.

Always a great dining experience. I often go with family. Sis, mum and 3 nieces. The service is great, food delicious and atmosphere good too!Kid-friendliness: Kids get a booklet and pens, a chefs hat and are always happy with their food

19 The Wine Bar

Only went in for a few drinks with several mates to check it out. Impressed with the various spaces / areas to sit and chat or eat if that's what you want. Good choice of drinks available with friendly staff, table service is available when the place isn't too busy.

Pappy's Texas Barbeque (The Old Smokehouse)

I had never heard of this place before a friend booked it for a meal.Food was amazing, didn't have to wait too long between ordering and eating, service was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Armstrong Ward

Items ordered on line and each item had been individually wrapped and arrived in perfect condition, including the two mugs! I would not hesitate to recommend Armstrong Ward, the products are so well chosen and of such good quality but there is something for every budget. It almost feel like you’re receiving a gift in the post by the way it is packaged. Thank you ?

Alexanders

Arrived without a reservation at 1.15pm, the waiter explained that we were very welcome but that the kitchen was busy and so our food would take 30 minutes. We were happy with this and the staff methodically worked through the tables etc and were very friendly and efficient throughout. We had opted for a simple roast which was very good and the deserts looked great (and the happy eaters confirmed that they were) but we were heading south for a flight home. A great spot to eat just outside Kendal.

Sapore

This place is a perfect little Italian, the staff were super friendly, kind and helpful, they all had a great sense of humour too. The food was beautiful, and we would highly recommend the scarpariello. It was lovely food, atmosphere and service, cannot fault it here. Will be definitely coming again if we are in the area.

Okay, so initially I was like, huh? Ordered a delivery and the driver stood at our open door without saying anything, our 3 yo daughter came to get us.But that aside, WOW! We ordered a Donner kabab and it was nice, while we are it, we left the two pizzas in our warm oven until we could get back to them when the kids went to sleep.Holy mother! They were delicious! Some of the BEST pizzas we have EVER had! Dominos has nothing on these guys! I had a fantastic ham and mushroom stuffed crust and the wife had a pepperoni stuffed crust.The crust of both pizzas was firm to the touch, but once you took a bite they were perfectly soft. The toppings were obviously fresh and punched our taste buds!

Eastern Balti Restaurant - Kendal

Staying in Motorhome at Kendal Cricket Club, so we ordered so.e food to be collected. Food ready on time, more importantly, the food was extremely tasty. We ordered a variety of dishes and sides. Everything was spot on. Great takeaway.

Jintana Thai Restaurant Kendal

Came on New Years Eve and even though it was busy the service was lovely and atmosphere was welcoming. The waiters were working incredibly hard to ensure everyone was catered for. The food was delicious and would come back again, highly recommend.

Geno's Pizzeria

Top bunch of guys here with quality take away food. Our first time in Kendal and they made us feel welcome. I requested a special calzone which isnt even on the menu but they made the request for me. Quality! Tasted great. We had a laugh with the staff, which is always a bonus. Id definitely go back next time we’re in town. Cheers Genos

The Duke of Cumberland

Came in while being shown the area, it's super close to the train station, loads of seating outside, also has fire heaters which are so lovely! Food was hearty, served promptly and tasty. Drinks were good also! Huge shouts also to Taz who was really friendly serving us??

Roadchef Killington Lake M6 Southbound

Stopped here one night for a break from the torrential rain on the M6 on a long journey home. It seems that many had the same idea - car park was packed, particularly with HGVs, which had spilled over into the car parking area as their own area seemed to be full.It’s a standard service station. I had a McDonalds, which was welcome since, to my consternation, there had been no golden arches on the M6 northbound on my outward journey.The rain was so bad, causing limited visibility, that I couldn’t immediately find the way out of the car park and back onto the M6. This was exacerbated by HGVs having been abandoned all over the car park. I expect this place is much nicer in the dry and the light!

BP

My son and I stopped here late on 24 Dec as services closed (thankfully). The lads on the counter were very pleasant, we bought Diesel along with toasted sarnies and hot chocolate. The toilets were lovely and clean and I have to say, even though BP charge more than local garages, it was worth the extra for good service and clean facilities. I've used Killington Lakes before but not the garage am so glad McD etc were closed as found a nicer stopover. Well done to those who work at this garage.

The Riflemans Arms - Kendal

Great place to drink. Strong local community, everyone gets along. Staff are great and really friendly ? drinks are priced well. Pool table is always brilliantly maintained, with appropriate rules and regular checks on the quality of everything! 10/10

Tannery Bar & Bistro

First time going and absolutely loved it , the food was delicious and the service was incredible, the new server Heather really went above and beyond to give great service and tried her best with a smile , every staff member was polite and the view was incredible, definitely recommend.

Union Jack Cafe

We stopped in Kendal on our way to our accommodation in the lake district. We decided to grab some lunch in this little cafe, the staff were lovely and the food was great. I ordered a tuna sandwich, it came with salad and coleslaw, the rest of my party got a small breakfast and a sausage roll. Everything was satisfactory and cheap for the area.

Frydays of Kendal

Absolutely great, beautiful fresh fish and perfect chips. There was a queue but no wonder as the f/c is so good. Worth travelling to and queueing for. Definitely will be a regular.Parking: Ok at night as parking off road at garage forecourt next door, busy road so don't know what parking is like during day

Far Cross Chippy

The best fish and chips we have EVER had!!!! The fish was so light and crispy, then just fell apart, the chips were cooked to perfection and the gravy could have been drank on its own (it was sooo good!)Service was fast and great communication coming from the staff :)We will definitely be back - Thank you guys

Came here for the pies and exceeded my expectations! Delicious fresh homemade pies - the chicken & mushroom was juicy and there was a whole egg in our bacon & egg one. Both very very tasty.Enjoyed it on a bench across the road. Highly recommended, it put a permanent smile on our face for the rest of the day.We also treated ourself to a jar of local Coley Barn honey!

Stramongate Fish & Chips

We stopped by for a quick bite. The gentleman was very friendly and served the food as per our request. The batter was thin and crispy as requested by us. 5 star for the friendly and welcoming man behind the counter and cook.

McDonald's Kendal

Like going back in time before drive thru's. Not seen one like this for years, mainly because I don't use city centre ones. Took a while to get served because of all the 'Just Eat' delivery drivers. Rubbish for parking though.

Fell Bar Kendal

Kendal Weekend - Feb '24 - had to come as we are a fan of Fell Brewery Tap in Chorlton, near where we live. Had the Cuppa Joe coffee milk stout 4.8% and Ghyll golden ale 3.4%. 3rd and last night in Kendal. Enjoyed the Hogan's hazy cider and another Ghyll golden ale.

George & Dragon

Bit wild ,,for the young ones really , I wanted to watch the footy and plenty of screens to choose from. Cider was really cheap and staff as professional as can be !

Jolly Fryer

What a superb chippy. Dropped in while driving through the area, looking for dinner. Great friendly welcome, the chips were cooked to order, and they have steak and kidney puddings and mushy peas to die for. The fish was superb, that my wife had. Sat in the sun outside the church, watching the sun play on the hills.Would certainly call here again.

I love this little place, we have come here for the last 3 years whilst visiting the lakes. The food is good quality at a good price especially for the lakes. Staff are always friendly and the nest part are the xmas cups and old soup bowls that remind me of going to my aunties for dinner.

Silver Mountain

Really fresh, tasty, enjoyable food. Generous portions, and friendly service with a smile too. Completely worth making the trip to collect it! Top tip: park up on Dowker’s Lane and walk down the path to get to Highgate, no parking dramas then.

Farmhouse Kitchen

Fantastic selection of foods on the menu, something for everyone, a quaint cafe style atmosphere, which can get quite busy at times, which is not surprising due to the great flood and drink on offer!.. Not had chance to try many things on the menu, but enjoyed the eggs Benedict & Chorizo hash amongst others! Will be back for more ?

Pearl Takeaway

Looks a little shabby but food was good and lady serving was authentic. Had no disposable forks so had to buy some at supermarket. Was a good find slightly off tourist trail.
