Pedro's Casa
128 Stricklandgate, KendalPre booked this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews. We received a really warm welcome from the owner very pleasant and chatty. Once shown to our table we were immediately informed there would be a 45 min wait as they had a large group in ( not that long a wait tbh). We ordered 4 tapas and a large nachos the food came at intervals which was great for us the Pil Gambas were delicious as was the chilli nachos we would definitely recommend a visit and when leaving we were ordered a taxi and yet another lengthy warm chat from the owner.

Stanley's Coffeehouse & Kitchen
1-3 Library Rd, KendalCalled in for lunch whilst in town.Food was great. Only negative was, I really don't like eating food off a wooden board with a piece of paper under the food. It's a bit old school now. Much prefer a proper plate, you know has been through a dishwasher. Paper got really soggy and did start to break up.Service was good and the place was quite busy.

72 Milnthorpe Rd, KendalWe never think of going here but dropped in on a Sunday. We didn’t have the roast which seemed to slow down the service a bit but our meals were all good. Tyson Fury was in the pub with his family at the same time as us, so it was a bit hectic in terms of atmosphere.Parking: Free parking on the premises but if the lot is full, it’s hard to find alternativesKid-friendliness: Big outdoor play area for the kids which is great for everyone!

Alexanders
Alexanders The Pub Castle Green Hotel, Castle Green Ln, KendalArrived without a reservation at 1.15pm, the waiter explained that we were very welcome but that the kitchen was busy and so our food would take 30 minutes. We were happy with this and the staff methodically worked through the tables etc and were very friendly and efficient throughout. We had opted for a simple roast which was very good and the deserts looked great (and the happy eaters confirmed that they were) but we were heading south for a flight home. A great spot to eat just outside Kendal.

5 Kirkland, KendalOkay, so initially I was like, huh? Ordered a delivery and the driver stood at our open door without saying anything, our 3 yo daughter came to get us.But that aside, WOW! We ordered a Donner kabab and it was nice, while we are it, we left the two pizzas in our warm oven until we could get back to them when the kids went to sleep.Holy mother! They were delicious! Some of the BEST pizzas we have EVER had! Dominos has nothing on these guys! I had a fantastic ham and mushroom stuffed crust and the wife had a pepperoni stuffed crust. The crust of both pizzas was firm to the touch, but once you took a bite they were perfectly soft. The toppings were obviously fresh and punched our taste buds!

Roadchef Killington Lake M6 Southbound
M6 Southbound, Killington, KendalStopped here one night for a break from the torrential rain on the M6 on a long journey home. It seems that many had the same idea - car park was packed, particularly with HGVs, which had spilled over into the car parking area as their own area seemed to be full. It’s a standard service station. I had a McDonalds, which was welcome since, to my consternation, there had been no golden arches on the M6 northbound on my outward journey. The rain was so bad, causing limited visibility, that I couldn’t immediately find the way out of the car park and back onto the M6. This was exacerbated by HGVs having been abandoned all over the car park. I expect this place is much nicer in the dry and the light!

BP
37 M6, KendalMy son and I stopped here late on 24 Dec as services closed (thankfully). The lads on the counter were very pleasant, we bought Diesel along with toasted sarnies and hot chocolate. The toilets were lovely and clean and I have to say, even though BP charge more than local garages, it was worth the extra for good service and clean facilities. I've used Killington Lakes before but not the garage am so glad McD etc were closed as found a nicer stopover. Well done to those who work at this garage.

If you want genuine Texas style barbecue that is succulent and delicious I highly recommend Pappy's! The Margaritas were also on point! The Garden Cafe & Take Away
Stramongate, KendalI was accompanied with a younger lady to myself, although my mother always said “what a young lady looks for in love is a man of weight and years for her to lean on” in fact myself I’m practically in my prime, and for a lady about to disembark from her university education the match seems quite agreeable. But enough of my sordid love affairs this is a detailed review on The Garden Cafe Kendal. Entering the garden cafe I was first delighted by its the location which was just a short walk from the centre of town in a secret and secluded courtyard that took us away from the hustle and bustle of Kendal and allowed us to engage in conversation privately. The decor of this quiet café was described by my companion upon her sitting down as “cozy”. A couple of intimate friendly tables for two and some larger tables which might accommodate a whole family. Art hanging upon the walls and greenery on tables and shelves, which I failed to identify in the moments conversation paused. The menu written upon a large blackboard behind the concierge was detailed and expansive, I must remark on the excellent value for money all the dishes would present. In the end, our order became somewhat complicated as we decided to have the vegetarian burger, but wished to replace our French fries with a Salt-N-Pepa variant. The patient and knowledgeable staff member taking our order treated this with the care and accommodation the matter required. The food came on a large plate with a healthy supply of our favourite condiment. We ordered a pot of tea to share between us which continued to pour even after several cups full of tea. The meal was excellent, of the highest quality indeed. I would remark it is to become one of my favourite restaurants in the whole of Kendal and for the price seemed infinitely competitive with garish High Street fast food chains. To end this brief story of love, refection on reflection the garden cafe excellent I look forward to the next encounter. And the young lady in question may deserve another mention.

Finkles
34 Finkle St, KendalI love this little place, we have come here for the last 3 years whilst visiting the lakes. The food is good quality at a good price especially for the lakes. Staff are always friendly and the nest part are the xmas cups and old soup bowls that remind me of going to my aunties for dinner.

Lyth Valley Country House B&B
Lyth Kendal, KendalFabulous room overlooking the lovely open countryside. The room was spacious, extremely clean, all modern fittings whilst retaining a great rustic vibe, lovely bed, tea making facilities, wall mounted flat screen tv. Great host who was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was great, cereals, juices, and a full English cooked to order. Thanks for a great stay.
