Food was okay, I had the pork belly and it was quite small but tasty, the let down was the Bisto gravy, it let down the whole dish. Staff were very nice and helpful

Very disappointing. No cask beers on at all, all 4 were unavailable which is really poor cellar management. It turned out the gluten free and vegan sausages were not gluten free. The 3 bean chilli as confirmed by the management contained only 1 variety of beans and was mainly tinned tomato’s.I would urge anyone with allergies to double check before ordering.

Wet rainy Monday in Kendal so not many people around.Pub was reasonably quite when we entered. Lots of empty tables with 3 to 4 drink menus on but none for food. Finally found them quite a way into the pub in a wall bracket.Reasonably wide ranging menu if a tad costly.Ordered drinks and food at the bar - paying for both. Drinks weren't served - barman said he would bring them to the table. We waited a good 10 minutes for a pint of lager and a pint of cider. We then waited a further 20+ minutes for our food. People who clearly arrived well after us were served before us. Other customers waited ages for their food/ drink. An older lady opposite us waited so long for her coffee she had almost finished her sandwich and Fries. She then had to wait further for milk.

Cozy, very friendly and dogs can go in. Food on the other hand was pretty shocking. Burnt sausage in a swimming pool of oily brown water which i think was gravy with green pellets floating around with ready made store mash. The crispy belly pork meal, the only thing on it that was crispy was the over cooked roast potstoes and again swimming in oily brown water.

Waited over an hour for food on a Tuesday night.... meal for 1 so didn't have a big order. Saw people who ordered after me get there food first. Really poor service to be honest.

Kendal Weekend - Feb '24 - Fantastic service (barman went out for dog treats) exceptional pint of house pale KendAle pale 4%. Citrus, honey & biscuit. Very dog friendly! Callan at front of house went above and beyond! 2nd day in Kendal we can back after a 10km walk. Went from Kendal to Hawkshead Brewery, train back and then lunch here. Hot steak baguette (with optional blue cheese sauce) and cheese & pickle sandwich. Both with fries. 3rd and last night here in Kendal. Called in for an Inch's apple cider. Very refreshing! Had great service again!

This is our fav place in Kendal to go out. Valentines Day was a disaster this time around. Whilst most of the staff there are very nice, they only had 1 beer on, no Aperol for 1 week at least, no Bacardi, no Cola, no tissues even! Food was great as usual, although some bits from the menu weren't available, but I couldn't believe how badly organised they were this time around. Will go back there again but not in the near future.
