Popped in today and it was excellent as always. Great staff, great food and a lovely location just off the high street and facing the church: which was looking magical today all covered in frost.

What a little gem a great tea room. Friendly staff and lovely food. Was a little quiet could do with a little back ground music. Decorated beautifully. Spotless clean.Greek three bean soup was gorgeous.

We received a warm welcome, even though it was close to their closing time. The café has a calm atmosphere, right by St Andrews. We had tea and scones, served on elegant china. I noticed that they do a range of meals. The specials board included the South African dish babotie. I look forward to trying that on my next visit.

Found this delightful little cafe quite by chance, after sitting in another Penrith tea house for half an hour, waiting to be served, seeing no staff whatsoever-- except somebody leaning on a counter in the kitchen -- and finally walking out to look elsewhere. Thus, by sheer luck we came upon Cafe Dawn-Marie! We sat in the outside flower garden, which is a perfect spot with cover in case of rain. Although we only stopped in for cappuccinos, we enjoyed it so much that we stayed for lunch, and then came back later for tea, scones and crumpets! The food was delicious and the service very friendly and quick. It has the feel of a family-run establishment with food home-made to order and great attention to the tiniest, charming details. Can highly recommend! Wish we could go back, but we are now home again in New York, alas!

This cafe is highly rated and rightly so in my opinion. The staff are friendly and you can tell this is ‘their cafe’ and they take pride in their service. The food and drinks were served promptly, the options were delicious and unusual, and the coffee was lovely. I had the Bobotie from the specials board ??.

On a recent visit to Penrith I wanted to visit St Andrew's Church and found the Dawn-Marie cafe right outside it's gates. The welcome is very warm and friendly. They put two tables together so the 3 of us could sit together. It is beautifully decorated, there is no music so ou can have a nice chat hoorah. We actually visited twice in one day. 1st Visit for coffee and cake. Hubby had a black Americano, our friend had a hot chocolate and I had a cappuccino. All were fine, for me personally I prefer my cappuccino to more foamy but that is just a personal preference and it tasted fine. Hubby and I had a very delicious almond and raspberry slice which was very moist and tasted delicious. Our friend had a fruit scone, which they warmed for him. He enjoyed that. The cake choice is a little limited but still a choice. 2nd visit. We enjoyed our first visit so much that later one after we had been walking around Penrith all morning we went back for lunch. They had a fairly standard light lunch menu with a few specials. I had the jacket potato with cheese, beans and a salad. It was very nice, a little small for most places but that was actually a good thing for me because usually the huge jacket potatoes are way too much. My hubby and our friend tried their South African dish called Bobotie (pronounced ba-boor-tea). We had not heard of this dish before, but it was explained to us what it was (I won't say on here so you can discover it for yourselves). It came with rice, a tiny pot of vegetables and salad. They both thoroughly enjoyed it. They said the portion size was spot on and the rice accompanied it perfectly. Totally delicious and recommended. We prefer to eat inside and that was very pleasant, however I understand they have a lovely back garden and most people went out there, which is why we managed to get a table so easily I think. I would recommend this place, especially if you like pleasant surroundings and great service together with nice food with no noisy music. When I next go to Penrith I will visit again.

Always a friendly welcome in this lovely Coffee Shop, it's our favourite place to go for a Coffee & Cake/Scone in Penrith. On this visit we shared a Cherry Scone & a piece of Victoria Sponge, both homemade & very tasty ?The Courtyard garden at the back has a beautiful display of plants & is a lovely peaceful haven to sit if the weather is nice.10 out of 10 from us

Lovely little cafe in Penrith - don't miss the specials board or the garden seating area!I've been to Dawn-Marie twice now and had a tasty lunch both times. The paninis are very good. I had the bacon cranberry and brie, and the classic tuna melt.I also tried one of the specials called Bobotie. It's a South African dish that's made up of a sweetish curried mince beef topped with an egg. If you enjoy sweeter dishes give it a try!The service is good and friendly which I always enjoy to have a little chat. Give them a try and don't forget the millionaire shortbread for dessert!Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options and specialsWheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp available just ask

Really lovely Cafe, with fresh scones and cakes, friendly staff, beautiful garden at the back. Located just off the main street.

Pleasant location. The cafe looks inviting. Warm welcome. The staff seem a bit confused - empty cafe, but all the seats were reserved, so they were uncertain where guests could seat. An hour later, the mystery continues, as more guests came in, but all the tables were still reserved. Coffee served ok. Limited range of cakes. Scones were on the dubious side of suspect. They ought to be fresh (even if shop bought) but I suspect these had been aged a little Staff very friendly, and very keen to provide good service. Apologized for the scones, so I did not feel to bad about that.
