Walked from Keswick centre to Nichol End Marina. A lovely walk but was glad when I arrived at the marina cafe. Roger (jolly Roger) welcomed me in and was so helpful and friendly. It was quiet as the season is coming to an end. I had an oat milk coffee and a raisin sticky toffee scone. It was so big! Put half in a bag to take home. Plenty of choice of scones all fresh and looking delicious. Prices were so reasonable. Roger then gave me a ride in his boat across Derwent Water. He’s such a nice man. It made my day to find a gem of a place. Would def recommend if in the area. Will return and try out the boating/canoeing etc next year.

We love Nichol End Marine and it's just gotten better year on year. The checking in process is now really slick, right down to a video briefing. The hire canoes, kayaks and SUPs are great quality. They usually have Wayfarer sailing dinghies which are super forgiving boats to sail, assuming you have some sailing experience. I wouldn't recommend them if it's a rowing boat you're after though. At the time of writing, those are incredibly tired and the oars need replacing. There are changing rooms both inside the facility and in marque style tents. They have space for you to leave bags behind but they now lend you a dry bag if you need to take things with you. I believe you are expected to take a mobile phone with you so you can call for the safety boat if you get into trouble. The cafe's ace as well. The scones aren't scones as you've every seen them before but they are a great way of replacing calories lost after a couple of hours messing about in (or around) boats. I highly recommend the chocolate.Parking for those hiring boats is much improved as well. We tend to walk there when we visit but they've clearly made some real changes to the site such that there is generally enough parking except on the busiest of days. But if you prefer to avoid driving, it's a lovely walk from Keswick.I highly recommend Nichol End. We've been going there for years and we'll definitely be going back again as it just keeps getting better.

Very friendly and welcoming staff and a great place to go kayaking (went with my daughter, son-in-law and four-year-old grandson) Parking could be awkward on busy days, but the staff provided us with passes.

Brilliant experience out on the lake during our camping holiday. We wanted to take the kids kayaking last year as it's something we haven't done as a family but we didn't get the weather. This year, we got lucky with a sunny day so we quickly booked 2 Kayaks. The marine has plenty of parking and is in a great location. Quick change, watch the safety video and off you go. We had great fun exploring Derwent from the Kayaks.Special mention to the cafe which sell amazing cakes and scones. As others have said, it's worth a visit on its own as the cakes are incredible ?.Great experience and a lovely way to create some lasting memories as a family.
