“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Charming Village Pub with Fantastic Food & Friendly Service! The Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite is a delightful country pub full of character and warmth. Nestled in a peaceful village setting with views of Skiddaw, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day exploring the Lakes . The interior is cosy and traditional, with low ceilings, a real fire, and a welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent — we had the pizzas and sharing nachos, both packed with flavour and generous toppings. The salsa was especially good, and the churros for dessert were a real treat . There’s a great variety on the menu, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, and the prices are very reasonable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to accommodate us even without a booking. It’s also dog-friendly throughout, which is a big plus for walkers and families. Whether you're stopping in for lunch, dinner, or just a drink in the beer garden, The Sun Inn offers a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in the area!”
