“Depending on the day, the food can be out of this world fantastic or not the best. Absolutely fantastic when the food is on top form. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff.”

“No reservations allowed. Took a while to get a table and food was going to take at least 30min to arrive so we opted for just drinks and cakes.

Marble cake was tough and a bit dry. But looking at other people’s orders, it did look really good.

Would advise people to go queue early (factor in at least 30mins.. we started queuing at 9.35 and got seated at 10.00) , and another 30min for food to arrive.”

“The prices are really reasonable, which is always a bonus in the Lakes. I’d highly recommend the Philly cheese steak sandwich/toastie—it was absolutely delicious! The brownies are also amazing, and they do homemade soup too, which isn’t on the menu, so you have to ask about it (like a fun little secret dish!).

The lady who owns and runs the café is so friendly and welcoming—she really creates a warm, relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to come back again. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!”

“Had a tasty tosted baguette with bacon chicken and cheese served with a generous salad for £7.45. The service was quick and the staff friendly and efficient. Would recommend for a quick and reasonably priced meal.”

“Dans Shack is a little eatery near to Lake Windermere, the host is a lovely pleasant man, and his food is very good, I had an egg bap, and my husband had a bacon bap, both were cooked to our request and were lovely and tasty, the baps were very fresh”

“There are two parts to this café. One is very casual where you can go up to the counter and place your order. The other is where you wait to be seated and your order is taken at the table. We didn't have to wait long for our food and drinks. The fruit scones were lovely and fresh. Probably the best we've had for a long time.”

“Visited here for the 1st time on Friday. Not sure why we have never been before when we have visited Bowness for years. A lovely welcoming venue. Sat outside to 'people watch'. Will definitely be back to try a cocktail. ♥️”
