Not one of the best.We bought the pizza margherita ( not good at all )Beef burger.......the bread really bad and chips ....the worst I've ever eaten.Fish and chips.........No.....Service no star because there is no service when you order by yourself and go to pick up your food and clean after you.

The worst fish I’ve ever had. Rock hard. The wife couldn’t eat hers and got a refund. I also got a pint of ale and that was off. We will avoid this place in future.

I regularly get fish and chips at Driftwood when visiting Bowness and they're always delicious — and this last time (early October 2023) I reckon they surpassed themselves. The fish (haddock on this occasion) was just perfect and the chips were excellent as always! (And served with a lemon wedge, which I just love.) I have tried other chippies in Bowness and in Windermere town, including on other people's recommendation, but honestly, none of them are as good as Driftwood's. They offer both seating and takeaway, AND it's right on Windermere (the lake) itself, with the most gorgeous views as you eat. How does it get any better than this???

We made the mistake of eating here as there is a large outdoor eating area, which is lovely and spacious and sheltered, as we did not want to venture into another small restaurant with a restless and noisy 1 year old. This part of our experience was great and the outdoor eating area is very good and family friendly, but unfortunately the food itself is very very bad. The chips just weren't tasty, my husband didn't eat his fish and I had asked for battered sausage... he came back with a weird cumberland sausage coil and pot of gravy! as battered sausage not something they serve here. I should of tried one of their pies, maybe better luck with those? A very weird experience and disappointing, luckily the toddler is not a food connoisseur and ate some of the chips. Maybe we are spoilt living so close to Redcar/Saltburn/Whitby and so many really good chippies... But an expensive experience at over £23 for a terrible fish and chips and a sausage and chips. Located in central Bowness along the waterfront road and an 8 minute walk from a carpark that has electrical car charging.

This is so much a restaurant as a takeaway chippy with outdoor covered seating. That said we had a really nice fish and chip supper washed down with a Peroni. Service was quick and the location couldn't be better for the lake.
The most Amazing fish and chips I've tasted in a long long time ? I will definitely be returning when I'm back up north

Terrible, the chips were so greasy that the oil was leaking from every chips, the fish was covered by a thick layer of batter full of oils and the portion of fish is so small there is nothing to eat other than the layers of battered stuff. Certainly I wont recommend.

Went here over the weekend and it was bouncing it down. We ordered and whilst we waited under the canopy amongst the trees were sat at a table covers from the rain. Each table has its own heater. Just need to work on the flooring and you've smashed it .Kid-friendliness: Friendly

Excellent fish and chips . Came with peas and tartare sauce, salt and vinegar. Beautiful light batter. Will definitely visit there again.

Excellent fish and chips lovely and fresh with peas and tartar sauce in the box. Chips were crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside. Absolutely gorgeous . Fish was a good size filled the box. Kids meals are good value as well Great staff very polite and extremely clean. Highly recommend when visiting Windermere. Ice cream for dessert is a must !!!
