Had this place on my list for a while and was looking forward to our dinner there. However, the meal was disappointing, the vibe and decor was super basic and the music too loud and off putting. You would expect greater care and attention to detail from a Michelin star restaurant. We went for the 6 course tasting menu which left us hungry, first ever time I've left hungry post 6 courses, so you can imagine how small the dishes were. The only thing enjoyable from all the dishes was the dessert. Overpriced and underwhelming are 2 words to best describe the tasting menu.I'd have given this 3 stars if not for the rude and pretentious service in the lounge from the senior staff and bar tender. Given our experience started in the lounge, it was not a warm welcome. You'd much rather check out the numerous other Michelin pubs and restaurants in the area for a nice meal out.

We had high hopes, but unfortunately were let down.Service challenges:This was largely driven by negative experiences with the bartender and one of the senior front of house staff. The rest of the staff, especially Matthew, were very lovely and helpful. After arriving, we were escorted to the lounge for a drink. The bartender came over to take the drinks order and one of our guests ordered the margarita, but wanted it stronger, so with an extra shot of tequila inside it. The bartender looked annoyed that he was being asked to modify the drink and refused saying he was legally not allowed to put an extra shot into the drink. This is untrue as the UK regulation for Standard Pours and Measures does not cover this request. And given it was the very first drink of the night, the "serving responsibly" clause does not apply either. When the senior front of house staff came to take our food order. When being asked to select between the 6 course and 10 course, we asked him what the differences would be between the 2. To which the unhelpful and serious reply was "4 courses" and then went on to explain the maths of it. Rather than explaining what dishes we would be missing out and giving us some meaningful guidance about which one to consider.Having just been to L'enclume, and other Michelin star restaurants, where you can select between wine pairing options for e.g. a standard wine pairing Vs a premium wine pairing. We asked the same waiting staff member if there were options for the wine pairing. To which he looked annoyed and said "There can only ever be one wine pairing".So we were off to a terrible start. The meal:The food was largely enjoyable and of a high standard. However, At £95 for a 6 course tasting, we left hungry. The main of the beef was a tiny tiny portion, it was just one small medallion sized piece. We have definitely had better 1* 6 course tasting menus for £65. So, this was poor value for money. At the end of the meal, we went back to the lounge for our cheese course. We wanted to order some port with it, but we couldn't find the port in the sweet / fortified wine section. So, when the same bar tender came to take our order, we asked if they had port. He looked at us as if we were stupid and said "Well you need to look at the Bar menu".Disappointed overall as we were really looking forward to the meal. As a result, we wouldn't be recommending this experience.

We were very disappointed that the restaurant, we ate in the conservatory, has gone minimalistic. Not only has it lost the ambiance, but that nothing now absorbed sounds. It was all right when we started the meal having gone early, but by the time we finished and the restaurant was full we could not hear each other speak. We understood that the menu changed recently. It was not as good as the old one.Parking: There did not appear to be any disabled parking.

Food was kind good. But service is poor professional to be a Michelin restaurant.

Lovely hotel, lovely rooms. Ate in the Source, the Michelin restaurant. Amazing food but atmosphere and decor wasn't amazing. Had music playing such as Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, Fleetwood Mac. Although I enjoy that music, it sounded like a radio station and didn't fit the required ambience. No tablecloths, very stripped back.Breakfast was also very nice. Nicer ambience than in the evening meal area. Also, we were there for 10th wedding anniversary. Lacked any real personal touch. Even had a birthday card from the hotel in our room for someone else, but nothing for us.That said, we enjoyed it.

A beautiful meal. Having dined at other Michelin star restaurants this is definitely one of the best. A great atmosphere, the tasting menu and wine pairing felt like a well thought out magical journey of food and drink! Sommelier was brilliant (UTV) and we especially loved the music playlist. One to add to your visit list. Could’ve ate the bread with every course! Stand outs - Crown Prince Custard and the Venison. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

We went with great hopes but these were dashed almost as soon as we arrived.we walked in and were greeted with "are you checking in?" Well the lack of any luggage was a bit of a clue. Our coats were taken and we were left standing in the entrance hall until the greeter returned with a fob for them. We were then taken to the lounge for pre-dinner drinks. After a drink and having chosen from the menu we were shown to our table. We'd chosen the tasting menu and my husband had a wine flight to accompany it. As the evening wore on the waiter became more and more "camp" and when the lady on an adjacent table requested a mint tea for her daughter he became quite indignant and informed her that they didn't serve tea or coffee until the end of the meal. She had to be extremely firm with him to get what she wanted. Meanwhile our meal was good but underwhelming. Nothing really stood out. We went into the lounge for coffee and waited and waited. Eventually we asked where it was and finally it arrived. We then asked for our bill and asked the waitress to book us a taxi. She came back and said there was no one available for 45 minutes. I then phoned the taxi company we had used to get there and they sent a cab immediately. We paid our bill and got up to leave. Nobody approached us so we went out to find someone to get our coats. We left and again nobody thanked us for coming or to say goodnight. We left with the feeling that we were totally unimportant despite having spent over £500

Wonderful experience! The tasting menu was so delicious. The staff and the service was exceptional. They were even kind enough to give us a lift back to our hotel as the taxis were too busy. Highly

Fantastic. Every course was matched perfectly to the wine. We thought this was the best wine pairing of any taster menu we have experienced. The service was also top notch. Recommend to all!

Food was great and once in a life time quality. We went for the tasting menu and my wife was amazed by the third dish, it only went up from there.Vegetarian options: My wife is vegetarian and they provided a special set menu for her.

We came yesterday for our 11th anniversary and we were greeted with champagne and snacks in the beautifully decorated lounge area. We ordererd some delicious cocktails and before we knew it was time to go in the dining area. Our waiter José was very attentive and had a great deal of knowledge (not to mention his funny sense of humour). We had the tasting menu and it was truly the best food experience I've ever come across, Chef Jack and his team catered to our needs without a hitch and delivered masterpiece after masterpiece. The only downside is that every other food I'll eat after this will taste bland! We also ordered some wine with the sommelier Jess and I have to say her recommendations were spot on, she describes wines very thoroughly and is also very friendly! Everyone else we met was also very friendly and nothing was too much. We'd recommend SOURCE to anyone wanting to experience food out of this world and we'll definitely come back!

Cannot recommend highly enough! Food was spectacular and second to none. Jose who took care of us provided a first class dining experience. It was well worth the hour trudge through a foot of unexpected snow for this dining experience!
