We decided to try the Red Lion for an impromptu evening out. Even though it’s only 10 minutes away from where we live, we hadn’t tried it before. A big mistake on our part! It is a very clean, welcoming country pub, serving fresh, well prepared and tasty food. The serving staff are excellent, with nothing being too much trouble. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! We can’t turn the clock back but we will definitely be back! PS The cider is particularly good also.

Lovely local pub with friendly staff. Gluten free beer was a plus for coeliac wife. Great cider brewed by the pub. Dog friendly.

Good honest hospitality at its best. Every effort was made to make us welcome. There were 12 of us for Sunday lunch and everyone was impressed with the quality of the home-cooked food, especially at such a good price. They were very proud of their chef and rightly so. Well done!

Called in whilst passing on a grey Sunday evening. AThey were busy but a table was found for us. Soup, their locally sourced spicy beefburger for me, my wife had the lamb. Amazing food and reasonably priced. Fully recommend!

After a lovely day at Chatsworth we came across the pub on our way home and called in for food. From the moment we walked in we were met with the friendliest of welcomes. 1 member of our party has food alagies which did not faze them at all. The food was home made and delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We found a little gem and will definitely return.Thankyou.

Popped in for a mid-day pint after a walk. Very welcoming. Good ales and ciders. Beer garden out the back. Didn't try the food but other customers clearly happy.

Spending a friends weekend nearby and came into the village to this lovely pub. Very friendly and welcoming hosts and extremely impressive menu - “pub food plus” I’d say! Homecooked and prepared to order.

Stopped in for Sunday Lunch. A warm welcome, excellent roast beef and trimmings and home made and locally sourced puds with amazingly creamy custard. Son had the homemade burger with very local beef, this was also excellent and he said it was the best he's had and from the bite i had, i have to agree. We will go back!

Had a fantastic Sunday Lunch here, beef was cooked to perfection and came with lots of fresh veg. Beer and local cider also very good. Its not the biggest pub so booking is advisable- you won't be disappointed

A spectacular welcome. Felt really welcome and the service was impeccable. Exciting to order a local cider and the buzz around the menu was evident. So many people calling to try and book a table. The pork roast was the best I have ever had, such a special find to experience such outstanding hospitality.

We were staying in a local holiday cottage and enjoyed an evening meal mid-week and a late afternoon Sunday Roast. The service was friendly and efficient and the food excellent. What more could you want.

The was a wonderful find. Close to Carsington Water (5 mins drive) in a pretty village. The reviews for a casual dinner were excellent, and the experience didn't let us down. We were 2 adults and 2 children, and ate two courses with drinks for £66 including a pint and delicious icecream for pudding. Homemade celeriac soup, and two roast dinners were the highlights. The staff were very friendly, even helping a regular to cross the road. The inside was cosy and a traditional pub. Small beer garden to the rear for drinks only.
