Came here as a group of 4 for lunch. We had already booked a table and were seated straight away. The service was very friendly and efficient with full table service. Nice ambience and not too busy. We all had the Sunday carvery which was probably the best Sunday lunch I have had in a long time (we all said the same)So fresh and plentiful. This place is a must visit. Would definitely recommend. We will be back for sure.

Following a visit to the Great British Car Museum, we were looking for somewhere to eat. This was just down the road and so stopped for lunch. The bar area was relatively quiet and easy to find a table. The menu was good and typical of a good pub list. We had steak n ale pie & chips and roast beef sandwiches with chips. Both meals were delightful with plenty of food. Would recommend.Food & drinks: Nice pub style menu.

Came here for lunch last Thursday and left feeling like "So yes, there are still brilliant places to eat out!" Fantastic food. So good we came back for breakfast on Saturday! Once again, excellent food and service. Will be back. Thank you.

Thank you to everyone that worked at our wedding on 8th September! The day was fantastic and lots of comments from guests on how good the food was.Special thanks to Brandon, Skye, Ryan & Mia for ensuring the day ran smoothly & keeping the beers flowing!

Disappointing. As locals we have passed this place on many an occasion and having visited its sister pubs, expressed an interest in visiting. Well the day came yesterday, a spot of lunch on my wife's birthday before heading off for a spa evening. One would think the home of the build you own burger would be pretty good at knocking a burger together. They are not. my wife's burger was burnt, tough and clearly reheated. The food as a whole is overpriced, poor quality, microwave food with no redeeming features. Wife's burger was replaced for an alternative and not charged however this does not change the quality the team were willing to present.Staff seem disinterested in being there. Been once and won't make a return unfortunately.

Sweet chilli fries are just chips with sauce on. Burger was just cheap factory made burger. Onion rings weren’t cooked properly. Just your average Tesco Coleslaw.

Had a lovely meal here with friends on a warm and sunny Tuesday evening. We sat outside and had a drink to start with and I noticed that there are several lots of outdoor seating located to the sides and rear of the building. Our friends were staying overnight and mentioned they had a very pleasant room although it overlooked the car park. The hotel is situated opposite a junction that seemed quite busy when we arrived (6pm). We all had burgers for our evening meal. They were served with a choice of two sides, although there was so much food we struggled to eat it all - nice burgers though! Unusually they were served on a 3 tier stand. There is a good sized car park at the side and this was around half full and there was a function going on while we were there. This is also a dog friendly pub and our puppy sat with us in the bar and garden. Definitely worth a visit.

Recently attended a friend's wedding celebration here. The staff were amazing & consistently provided excellent service. The rooms are comfortable wuth those little extra touches that really make you feel spoiled, and the food was great.

I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodation. I travel for work 3 nights a week on average and for the price of a room here I was blown away. Comfortable bed, great pillows, a lovely modern bathroom, fluffy towels and white company toiletries. I also ate in the restaurant. Not understanding the cage concept with the naked burger I somehow ordered 2 bowls of salad- lucky I enjoy salad! All in all it’s a lovely pub, good food, good service, good rooms. I’ll stay again when visiting friends in the area.

Went for lunch after visiting The Great British Car Journey. Service good and food was good quality. I had a lamb and mint burger that interestingly presented. My friend had homemade fish finger that he considered very good. Prices reasonable for the quality, nice atmosphere with large free car park.

After a nice morning walk at carsington we decided to have lunch at the knockerdown inn , unfortunately it was closed today for staff training so on way home decided to stop at Hurt Arms Ambergate just two of us with dog .When I entered there was two tables taken and this was 1pm Tuesday lunchtime , this place used to be packed at this time whenever I’ve driven past . When I found the grumpy barman no hello or welcome just tried to ignore me so I asked if it is ok to sit in with our dog yeah in bar area only fair enough but as first time in wasn’t sure as to which area this was , ordered drinks but card machine just shoved at me even though paying with cash no sorry or please or Thankyou he just walked off . Sat in area with drinks in what was a very unfriendly atmosphere so took out business elsewhere . If you or the girl behind bar are managers here you need to change jobs , If you are staff then the manager needs some friendly and inviting staff as in this difficult time for pubs there is no room for poor customer skills . Will not be returning here again .

Great for drinks or a meal. Went on a busy Friday night with a wedding going on too! Fabulous food especially if you love any type of burger. Super service and friendly staff. Thank you! On of the highlights of our visit to the area.

I come back here regularly because of their burgers! They come in a bird cage yes, but despite that they are delicious! Bit pricey but you get what you pay for!
