James at The Highwayman helped me to organise a 90th birthday meal for my mum and members of our family, there were 19 of us including 6 children aged 2 months to 13 years. From my first enquiry through to the conclusion of the event, he was positive, endlessly helpful and efficient. Every query was answered quickly, nothing was too much trouble and in the end, although my husband and I had to bow out due to illness, the event was a great success. I've heard nothing but good feedback from family members, the food was excellent and James and Dillon saw to it that everyone was happy from start to finish. This is a great, relaxing venue for a family get together and you can book with confidence.

Quite possibly the worst eating experience we have ever had ! The chef needs training or sacking as the food was terrible. Front of house staff are nice but the food is appalling !

From the moment we walked in a table of 8 not booked Kim as manager made us feel so so welcome Kim and her team were superb in every aspect the chefs Neil and rob that were on duty cooked the food to perfection lovely fresh hot food that came out at the same time the main meals were brought out in the same excellent condition and was fresh and very tasteful it really was a perfect meal out for all of us and everybody in our family said the same even our 11 year old autistic son felt he had to say how good it was !! They attended to his every need even when asking for complicated things with his meal and pudding !!! Ty to Kim and all the staff for making this such an enjoyable meal out !!!

Called in here for a quick meal, after visiting Chatsworth. Very quiet but we were attended to quickly. The meal was nice and the staff were helpful and efficient. Would visit again if we were in the area.

Dreadful evening. 6 adults eating, 4 meals arrived after an hour, 3 returned with luke warm chicken and pork. Walked out after 2hrs. Nice pint of Doom Bar.

Where do I start! My partner and I went to Beefeater after finishing work and driving over an hour as we were having a weekend away. This beefeater was next to our premier inn we were staying in. We decided to go for our evening meal here. Upon arrival we were greeted with “do you have a booking?” No good evening or any other comment. We said “no” as we’d just arrived, they had a check around and we were seated quickly. Both of us looked at the menu and a lovely waitress took our drinks order. We both looked over the food menu and our order was taken. After a while our food arrived, mine was lasagna and my partner ordered ribs and chicken, the chicken was ok, we did question if it was actually chicken (between ourselves). Once our plates were taken, we asked for the bill which the waitress brought over and about a discount code or something, she said yes and brought over a card to activate. My partner looked at the bill and it said £15.66 I said is it right, he assured me that it was. It then took between 20-30 minutes for someone to come over to actually take payment, which we were paying in cash. Once someone finally came over, they took our bill. A few minutes later they came back and said this isn’t your bill, which we questioned as there had been discounts applied. The second waiter came over and blamed our previous waitress for giving us the wrong bill and were asked to pay the full amount, which we paid and left. As we left we saw there was a deal on 2 4 1 cocktails on the baileys ones, we discussed coming back for these the day after as neither of us would have to drive as we were staying next door. Upon arrival we then asked the same thing “have you booked?” We replied, we’ve just come for drinks. We found a seat around the bar area which my partner went to the bar to order the drinks. After sitting on my own while he was there for 10 minutes if not longer, wondering where he’d got to. He arrived with 2 out of the 4 cocktails. For him to say they have no idea what they are doing and have no idea about their offers as it said all 4 were on the offer which was £20 for 4 cocktails. We then had to guess which one was which as they were all different and they had no idea which was which when placing them down. Very frustrating for a big brand and we gave them the benefit of the doubt after the first attempt. Would not recommend returning for an evening meal.

We often meet halfway with other family from time to time to have a proper catch up and have a good time. The staff are always friendly and efficient when it comes to service and the food is just as good. Prices a little on the higher side but certainly doesn’t change my view of this place in any way. Will always come back here :)

Best meal I've had in ages. The ribs were amazing. Service could be better. Getting our meal was fine, but we had to attract attention to get a pudding. Staff very polite and friendly though.

Absolutely gorgeous Xmas dinner. I had the chicken goujons starter, followed by Turkey mains with all the trimmings . Dessert was a divine chocolate orange sundae. Friendly service and not too busy

We've visited many Beefeaters in our years of travelling the UK and The Highwayman served us by far the best Beefeater meal we've had - perfectly cooked by Mark & Muke. Jamie who greeted us was an absolute font of local knowledge which he happily shared with us. What a wonderful start to our annual Christmas weekend away. I'm glad we're booked in again tomorrow. We'll done to everyone and thank you. A credit to Beefeater!

Sits next door to the premier inn west in Derbyshire. The food package is well worth having, £25.99 for a 2 course evening meal which includes a drink, plus as much as you can eat breakfast. The breakfast is very very good!! There is a choice of a Continental breakfast and a full English breakfast is available. Hubbie said it’s the best breakfast he’s had in a long time. Don’t expect massive portions, but very tasty. The place itself is a tad tired, but the staff are friendly and gave us a very warm welcome. This is a great place to stay if you visiting Chatsworth House, it’s literally 10 minutes away (if that).

We went to The Highway Man on our way back home from Chatsworth Christmas Market. We were greeted and served by the manager James who was lovely and very attentive. There was a little bit of a wait but the team were clearly very understaffed. James was very apologetic and when the food arrived it was all delicious. We will definitely return.
