Biggest disappointment was the so called a la carte menu. It's NOT, it's a fixed price menu. Very draughty seating. Food okay but not worth what we paid for it.

Never had such salty meals (salt baked vegetables). We didn’t manage to eat a couple of the plates.I think there is much better place to eat in Glossop maybe less fancy but definitely edible.

Was recommended to attend by a chef who had dined there before hand. Charming confident staff, great atmosphere and a fine selection of small plates foods with locally sourced Derbyshire fine meats, fish & vegetables. A real winner and worth the drive out to try it certainly. Will book again soon. Hope they rotate the menu after a few months to keep it interesting.

Belated review from two weeks ago, but loved it here. Bridges that gap between decent pub food and fine dining - closer to the latter in quality of ingredients and thinking the dishes through, albeit in a 'local bistro' atmosphere. If I was steering people, I'd certainly think of it as good value fine dining rather than 'expensive' pub food. We both had the five course tasting menu, and one of us had the accompanying wine pairing, which all looked like a bargain on paper, and proved to be in practice. All of the food courses were relatively simply put together, and not large helpings, but everything was well sourced in terms of quality, and in perfect balance, and we certainly didn't feel hungry when we left. We struggled to think of where we could improve any of the dishes without adding to the cost. The service was perfectly pleasant throughout - at least as good as you'd hope for at this 'price point'. We've paid three times the price at more renowned establishments, and not eaten half as well, and very likely we'll make the trip again, even though one of us has to drive.

Great food - interesting and tasty dishes. I'm not really into fine dining so thought the prices were a bit high. Lovely atmosphere and service.

An excellent find! The food is very very good and quite creative in parts. Service was great - relaxed and friendly. It’s not silver service that you get at some fine dining places but that was fine. We ate at a restaurant with a Michelin star recently and this was way better in terms of food (and a third of the price!). Once Michelin catch up this will get a star - don’t miss this place!

This was our first time at Hyssop and oh boy will we be back! The staff made us feel very welcome and relaxed and we started the meal with an aperitif. My wife had the Hyssop Royale and I had an Aperol Spritz- delicious! We were advised to order several small plates each and so I opted for four and my wife opted for three.Stone bass with asparagus, scallop and Thai curry Cod with butter curry sauce and toasted nuts.Char sui bacon "butty"Derbyshire Beef with greens and pepper sauce.Hyssop focaccia with herb butterSalt baked celeriac with onion, orzo and mushroom.Slow cooked Jersey royals with black bomber and walnutOh my gosh, the food was absolutely lovely. The food comes out as it's ready, so as you're talking there is a constant supply of deliciousness arriving.Particular highlights for me were the slow cooked Jersey Royals which were lovely and the herb butter which was delightful. I also cannot forget the char sui bacon butty - I will have to return to eat this again. We accompanied it with a bottle of wine from Languedoc, which I'm sorry to say I can't remember the name of but was lovely. Each small plate was around £10. So the total cost for two people was £125 and we both felt absolutely stuffed afterwards, the only thing missing was a hammock for a snooze. If I was to go again I would probably drop one of the main courses and opt instead for a pudding, which looked from the menu like something special. Who doesn't like a chocolate fondant?10/10 - Would recommend.

This place is not cheap but the chef clearly knows what they’re doing. I chose the tasting menu which was presented the same as any other fine dining establishment. The matching wines were not amazing but they were well selected. I would say that it was good value, but I’m from London so my opinion may be skewed. But they insisted on playing loud piercing music from Spotify the entire evening. Know your customers. No one wanted that.

Staff were brilliant from booking to welcome to end of meal.Food was really good we went for the tasting menu.Wine offering was very poor considering the food on offer. To be fair the staff said this is under review and a new wine list is coming soon.Overall will definitely be back again.

Just been in for the small plates experience, the food was fantastic. I was a little bit confused at first about ordering but the staff were truly fantastic. I cannot recommend this wonderful restaurant enough, GO , you won’t be disappointed. Congratulations team Hyssop.

Sadly the taste of your food and the special occasion we were celebrating was long forgotten after your handling of the bill and voucher. Michelin guide status should have customer service to match - not here. Our attempts to take the matter up with you were very disappointing, with zero exercise of discretion - despite being explicit with your manager before even taking a seat. Speaks volumes !! No food is worth that experience and we will certainly take business (and recommendations) elsewhere.
