Stunning location, Good friendly service at a competitive price point ,friendly staff with good local knowledge of surrounding area for walking / cycling , Cheers Alex for the recommendation of the delicious steak sandwich ,and the knowledge of trails I need to try out in the future , I hope to visit again.

5 adults.. 5 steak sandwiches, it was clear they had run our of steak as we had 3 small pieces of "meat" each on the driest "rustic" bread.. sandwich was advertised at 899 calories per sandwich. Not sure how. But still charged £10.75 each. They don't deserve one star. Service was also very slow.

We loved every aspect of our Sunday lunch at The Castle. The food and beer were excellent and the staff were especially welcoming and efficient. The building is lovely and a nicely smouldering log fire made for a relaxing afternoon. A full 5* from us.

We called for a drink on a sunny Sunday. The pub area was full so we sat outside at the front door. The tables and ground were scruffy and clearly hadn't been cleaned all winter. We used a tissue to clean our table and there was nowhere to deposit this litter. Come on team! It's only a 10 minute job to tidy your terrace and make it more welcoming!

We visited The Castle for a special Birthday lunch today and the food and service were excellent.Emma and Alex served us with a smile and made sure everything was perfect for us and went out of their way to be helpful. And the chef - Dave, served delicious food - especially the huge fish and chips and delicious gammon. The venue was warm, cosy and perfect on this chilly day for a lovely relaxed afternoon.

Visiting Castleton for the day after a long hike and needed to find a pub to have dinner. We were greeted by the door, food was fantastic and staff were lovely!Nice end to a lovely day out. Thank you!
Lovely rambling establishment, good food and beer/gin selection. My only feedback was that the service pretty much disappeared towards the end of our meal and we were left to it. Apart from that, it was a really good meal and atmosphere.

Visited on a saturday afternoon, no where to sit even though there where empty tables, told the table's were reserved and made to stand up for 30 mins, whilst no one sat in reserved table's. The hostess also made numerous people vacate tables because they where reserved too, dreadful service and she was really rude. I had spent money in there same as anyone else but made to feel like a second class citizen as not reserved a table.

Had a drink here and it was lovely inside, the food looked lovely although we didn't eat. All of the staff were really friendly, especially the lady at the bar who had black hair (unfortunately didn't get her name)
